Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries Dead at 46.

Some people get to become part of the substance of your life.

Often, you only realise this when they die.

This is definitely painful.

This is so sad to hear. What a talent she was.
Well, yes, it's usually sad news, particularly when someone dies well before their life expectancy, and Dolores O'Riordan was possibly a talented singer. That said, I never cared much about The Cranberries' music and I did not know their singer's name was Dolores O'Riordan, so I googled for who she was. The Wikipedia is my goto site for that sort of thing. While reading it I learnt that Dolores was a Catholic who adored the arch-conservative (Polish) Pope John Paul II. If I could, I now would care even less about her or her band.

Yes, I learn she was also vocal against abortion rights... That does not seem to have the slightest effect on how much I feel about her singing and the impression I have that I very much loved her, how mistaken that impression might be.

Fromderinside tells me it's all down to mirror neurons and such. Yeah, I think there's nothing I could do against that!

Even the best of us are flawed. Her wrong headed views on the Church and abortion don't erase the beauty and moving passion of a song like Zombie, about the northern Ireland conflict.

Also, female Irish accents give me a chub.

Any word on cause of death?

I understand she had to cancel to some shows last year due to back problems. I understand heart conditions in women can first appear as back pains.

It’s very sad :(
I suppose if it was suicide we would have heard already (she was apparently bipolar).

I bought my Cranberries CDs during the 1990s & 2000s. I’ve actually become more fond of their music in recent years and I listen to them fairly often. I now tend to prefer some of their less known tunes: e.g. Waltzing Back, Not Sorry, Delilah, Loud and Clear, What’s on My Mind

It reminds me of Heath Ledger's death by accidental overdose, or the wrong combination of prescribed medications...

Yeah it can happen. For example: if she wasn't in the best of health and had a few glasses of wine after dinner; and was taking something like OxyContin and Soma for back pain, along with a high dose of Seroquel for bipolar disorder and a sleeping pill... (Or other combinations of high-powered meds)
i.e. None of these things individually should kill, but in combination with each other, yes it can definitely happen

Could be. My mother had severe back pains for months until she had a stomach aneurysm. Thankfully they caught it in time. They had to replace a section of her aorta in her back with a synthetic tube.

It just came out today that Tom Petty’s death was probably due to an accidental overdose

That sucks. Petty dealing with the pain of a broken hip, no less.
