Brilliant marketing that also happens to help a cause.

I mean, Ryan Reynolds is making a career out of playing a character who is the way he is because of character. So why not use the character to raise money for cancer victims? The name of the charity group is Let's Fuck Cancer. Let's face it, if Deadpool was ever going to be involved with a charity, that's the one he would promote, isn't it?

Oh, and please donate money if you can.

"Because of cancer" not "because of cancer."

Sorry, but the keyboard app on my mobile devices sometimes make odd substitutions.

Ugh...please, no more pink! Let's leave pink for the girls' toys aisle where it belongs! :)

I don't think using the F-bomb for a charity marketing campaign is a sensible idea. Edgy...maybe. It certainly doesn't give it mass appeal, and is likely to turn off a lot of potential contributors.

I can just imagine a little 6 year old Deadpool fanboy going up to his mom. "Mom, *tugs apron*, can we donate some money to "Let's Fuck Cancer"? Yeah...that'll go over well.

but it's probably not intended for mass appeal, just the 'Deadpool Uber Alles' demographic. In which case the F-bomb just seals the deal, getting money from people who would otherwise not have donated to cancer research until much later in life...

It isn't meant for mass appeal, that much is true, but it also isn't exactly a new charity, and existed before the first Deadpool movie happened.

F Cancer: Meet The 25-Year-Old Entrepreneur Who's Raised Over $1M For Early Detection, Prevention

That was in 2012, and the charity had been established for 4 years at that point. Getting Ryan Reynolds to do a Deadpool commercial for it can only help this charity. They are targeting millenials and young adults, because the founder was a young adult when her mother got cancer. As the article above points out:

In 2009, Yael founded the F Cancer charity focused on getting young adults to engage with their parents about early detection.

Being edgy is what it is all about. The charity started with Yael printing a couple of t-shirts that said "Fuck Cancer", for her and her mother. They got a lot of attention, and she initially just considered printing more shirts for sale, and donating the proceeds to existing charities, but eventually decided to start her own charity. I bet it is really taking off now with that Deadpool spot.

People should not be letting 6 yr olds watch Deadpool at all.

Unless they have cancer.

What if you want the 6 year old to grow up to be a fowl-mouthed, violent psychopath with zero self control?

Let him read Trump's Twitter feed, granted, he isn't very violent.

Well, when you put it that way...
