I got this book for my birthday and I then got a few copies and gave it to other people. It is incredibly cool stuff.

My suspicion is that the long gap between online posts was (at least in part) due to waiting for early sales of the book to run their course, on the 'Why buy a cow when you can get the milk for free' principle.

I am hoping that this new post will mark a return to regular weekly posting online - But I guess when stuff is free, you can't really complain if you don't get as much of it as you would have liked.
 
I'm so happy right now! It's been far too long without a new one. I'd keep checking every once in a while just to see. He's been slacking a bit lately though. For example the Friday comic is still not up yet as of the time of this posting (just after 3pm EST on Friday).

eta: I just went back to check something else out and today's comic is up! I've been following xkcd religiously for years now. It was a while before I discovered the hovertext (which is in the "What If's" as well, in case you didn't know).

There was no mention of getting pole burns on your junk if you try it.
