Congressional offices have a porn problem, but it's not exactly what you think.

Since 1983, Larry Flynt has sent the monthly magazine he founded, Hustler, to each and every member of Congress.

The dirty mag comes in a plain manila envelope, fairly undetectable to the poor intern or staffer tasked with opening the mail. And every month, there it is: Hustler, featuring dozens of naked or scantly dressed women, vulgar comics, and articles, some satirical, on politics, society, and sex.

Too funny.

Well, that was nice of him back in the 80s, but does anyone really buy porn magazines anymore? Why not just use the internet?

I can't recall spending a dime on porn, since my first 312 baud rate modem. It is a strange thing to see porn become such a huge industry. Most of it is made by people who work for no pay and given away for free. Years ago, I worked with a guy who had subscriptions to a dozen or so porn sites. I did not understand this one bit. He claimed he got better stuff.

If you don't pay for it it will go away. just like cable.

I think the internet has long since reached the critical mass of porn which will guarantee that it will survive forever. The decentralized design of the web was created to shield information from destruction in the event of a catastrophe and the most imporant information on the web has had this successfully occur.

Thousands of years from now when historians talk about our culture, the main takeaway point will likely be that we really had a thing for asian lesbians.

Sending them an email with a link somehow doesn't have the same impact. ;)

Fair point. It is easier for the intern who opens the mail to sneak off into the bathroom with a magazine as opposed to surfing some porn at his desk.

Even if you had a fairly specific niche and restricted yourself to stuff produced in the 21st century only you could probably watch for the rest of your life and not run out. And yet more stuff gets produced every day.
