Albion First United Methodist Church trustee and property manager Edward Eugene Sobie, 58, was charged with child sexually abusive activity and distributing or promoting child pornography on Monday. The charges stem from a search of his home after a vigilante group publicized video after they allegedly caught him making arrangements to meet a 15-year-old girl in a sting operation, WWMT reports.

“I spoke with a detective with Albion Public Safety this afternoon,” WWMT’s Brittany Gray noted. “These ten counts, it could just be the very beginning.”

“I’m told they are now working with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s office as well as Michigan State Police and additional charges could be coming,” she reported.

The group 517 Child Predator Exposure (CPE) reportedly met Sobie in a store parking lot on July 28th, after he allegedly talked to three different decoys posing as young girls online.

Speaking of things that never stop...
Is it just me or are phands threads getting a bit spammy?
*yawn*

Yep.
That's me.
But I've got the Tin Man and Scarecrow so I should be OK.

If you want, you could start posting instances where atheists were caught red-handed doing foul things.

Of course, since atheists make no claims of moral superiority as a result of their belief (or lack thereof), it wouldn't have the same force it does when we show how some of those claiming the high moral ground as a result of their religion are total scumbags. But you might be able to show that Christians are at least no *worse* than the general run of humanity.

Though that still wouldn't much help you show how faith in God makes one a better person, would it?

And have enacted a conspiracy to cover up such things, else the rest of us atheists look bad?

Any atheist coerce a victim into silence because 'nobody is watching you' and 'nobody is going to punish you for talking?'

Anyone's family automatically decide that the victim is lying because 'an atheist wouldn't do that?'

It's so hard to do foul things as an atheist, the infrastructure to compete with those at least claiming to be washed in the blood of the lamb just isn't there.

You're right. Atheism makes zero moral claims about pedophilia. Atheism has no 'biblical' admonishments against sexual perversion. Atheists don't go to confession. They don't believe in a higher power. They don't believe in hell.
...oh yeah, and they apparently masquerade as clergy in their thousands.

I think I'll just let phands keep digging.

You do know that : Uncles (aunts to a lesser degree) guardians and family friends abuse children in families and other institutions many-fold in comparison to the above. To state the most obvious , with what seems to have a tinge of hipocracy to the OP e.g. to church only: Its not a religous (Christian) ideology! Or rather... the perversion/dis-order problem is not a religion per se (like the dark-side believers etc..) but an individual extreme preference for the easy to influence.

It is arguably the case that theism makes no claims about moral superiority either. Atheism and theism are grounded in claims about the existence of deities, not specific moral codes. Theistic movements do make such claims, because they usually try to base morality in the alleged commands of divine authority. Atheism doesn't usually spawn denominations or cults, and it takes no coherent position on the basis of morality. Individual atheists tend to base moral codes on specific philosophical positions, when they discuss it at all.

That's not to say that I agree totally with Jobar's point that atheists don't claim to be morally superior to believers. I think that a good many atheists do believe that and have occasionally argued the point. A good many also deny moral superiority. The community of atheists is probably more diverse than that of theists on such matters.

On come on Jobar.
I am tired of the atheists (anecdotally speaking until I can find a reference) who are quite happy to trumpet their moral superiority over me, a believer.
The amount of atheists who claim superiority over me because I am not in favour of abortion for example is truly tiresome.
Though of course I am speaking of atheists in Australia who are much ruder than their counterparts in the US. USA atheists would never do that I am sure.

Oh, I dunno about that...It's the fucking Christians who are so inappropriatately smug about it. If you want rude, you should engage with American fundamentalist Christians. It's probably tiresome for you because of your unwillingness to improve your moral behavior in the face of far superior moral behavior from the atheists around you, compared to the masses of ignorant and hypocritical fuckhead Christians. I'm betting that most Christians have no fucking idea of the morality which is expected of them in the scriptures. Most of them have not read, much less comprehended the scriptures, to begin with. I mean....I haven't seen anyone ever stoned to death for divorce, and that alone should have extinguished a good third of most Christian populations. You fuckheads are morally lax. I'll bet you even eat shrimp, clams, and oysters and wear blended polyester. We all know you fornicate with family members....it's a long-standing tradition in American Christian circles....inbreeding.

I'm just thankful!

1 Timothy 4:3-5

4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

So...That other Christian, who hates you because you believe namby-pamby tommyrot, comes along and condemns you as a heretic, rapes your wife, enslaves your children, appropriates your assets and cripples you for life....is sanctified by the word of God and prayer? You would still be thankful?
