It warms the heart to see churches closing. Sadly, they're building another one, albeit much smaller....

Well, here’s a sign of the times in Ireland. One of the largest Catholic churches in the country, with a capacity for 3,500 people, now receives only a fraction of that attendance. So it’s being demolished to make way for a smaller church that requires far less maintenance, with the extra space to be used for housing for the elderly and other social services. A win-win for everyone!

Yes, I hear the homeless shelters and soup kitchens are disappearing too.

The shelters and soup kitchens exist to lure in the poor and defenseless so the Church can sell them on their repulsive ideology. Do not for one moment think that the Christian Church acts out of pure intentions. I think many Christians are good people at heart (as most people are), but the institutions of organized religion are corrupt and evil, and the sooner they disappear the better off the world will be.

With all your threads you seem to be on a one man personal pogrom against religion.

Hardly one man. There are millions of us who recognise that religion is toxic and bad for humanity, and needs to go.

When did hoping something goes away become a pogrom?

Fighting the good fight always feels good. The tide appears to be slowly turning. Not fast enough for some. From CNN reports the RCC sex scandals have had a deep reaction among Catholics.

Catholic Church attendance is starting to grow again as parishioners regain confidence that the purge of atheist/pedophile fakers masquerading as priests has well and truly started to disinfect God's House.

It's just as Jesus explained to Nicodemus. Darkness hates the light. Deeds done in darkness are exactly what the Church hierarchy should have put under the spotlight which would have prevented the decay.

Imagine if, instead of worrying about the reputation of the Church, (the Church which Jesus said the gates of hell couldnt even dent,) that every lying, disgusting atheist pedophile had been publically named and shamed and OUTED! Imagine if every single person with hearsay, gossip and slander had been publically shamed into stating their claim out loud - immediately - to the police instead of whispers behind closed doors. Mandatory reporting by those making the claim.

They talk about the statute of limitations being extended. I think it should be shortened. And anyone who fails to report the rape of a child within 5 minutes should be charged as an accessory after the fact - attempting to conceal a crime. 5 minutes?
Some people waited years to report the rape of their own child!!!

Oh, yeah...leave it to xtianity to make a bad situation worse. When people are at their moist vulnerable, they're easy to subvert into nonsense and Wooooooo. AA is another good example...largely a fail, it tries to supplant alcohol with religion, and wallows in guilt and negativity. See The Irrationality of Alcoholics Anonymous

Calling it a pogrom is absurd hyperbole.

Actually, I take exception to being accused of massacre or genocide of large groups of people. I think you should apologize.

That is incorrect. Atheists take care of their sexual urges by having guilt free sex with consenting partners. You told us so yourself, remember? On the other hand, Christians who have been taught from childhood that sex is immoral end up joining the clergy hoping to get away from their biology, and end up molesting helpless children. Thank you for proving the point that it is better to be an atheist who engages in legal, guilt free sex, than to be a repressed Christian priest who rapes children.

Also, I think you are making up the claim that more people are turning to religion, because all the numbers I have seen tell me that the opposite is true.

It's just as Jesus explained to Nicodemus. Darkness hates the light. Deeds done in darkness are exactly what the Church hierarchy should have put under the spotlight which would have prevented the decay.

So why didn't the Church put pedophile Christian priests under the spotlight? Oh, that's right, the wealth and establishment of the Church and the privileged lives of the high ranking priests have to be protected at all costs, even if that means protecting and enabling Christian priests who rape children. Why aren't you outraged that the Church has been protecting the pedophile criminals in their ranks for so long?

Imagine if, instead of worrying about the reputation of the Church, (the Church which Jesus said the gates of hell couldnt even dent,) that every lying, disgusting atheist pedophile had been publically named and shamed and OUTED! Imagine if every single person with hearsay, gossip and slander had been publically shamed into stating their claim out loud - immediately - to the police instead of whispers behind closed doors. Some people waited years to report the rape of their own child!!!

You are repeating the same untruth you have been spouting for some time. To my knowledge, not a single Christian priest who has been accused of or convicted of molesting children has claimed to be anything but a Christian. The basic premise of the Christian faith is that ALL humans are imperfect, they sin, and all they have to do to be forgiven by their god is to get on their knees, confess their sins, and declare their subservience to said god. Which makes it easy to do things like rape children, because they have a magic get-out-of-jail card.

Through the repetition of this provocative and baseless falsehood you are trying to divert our attention from the fact that large numbers of Christian priests have been abusing children for a long time, and that the Church has known about these abuses and done everything in its power not just to to protect the criminals, but also allow them to continue their abuses. It is sickening to think how many lives the Church could have saved if they had stepped up earlier and done something about the problem instead of covering it up. As a Christian you should be outraged and ashamed of the legacy of abuse that the RCC has built up. Instead, you try to blame the problem on atheists, who have nothing to do with it.

Religion fucks up the minds of many good, rational people and turns them into pimps and liars for their Church, peddling its sleazy ideology on street-corners, preying on the weak and helpless, and covering up the abuses rampant in the festering brothels they call "houses of worship" with a thin veil of piety. The good news is that the Church can no longer suppress the mountains of abuse it has been covering up for so long. A thousand years ago the RCC would burned heretics alive after torturing them, but that has changed. People, Christian and otherwise, are beginning to wake up and recognize the Church for the abomination it really is. When are you going to find some of that grit you keep talking about, to stand up and say that enough is enough?

It is also important to note that this so called "purge" of criminal Christian priests was not initiated by the Church. It was initiated by public and private prosecutors representing people who have been harmed by the Church, filing criminal and civil charges against the Church and its members, and forcing them them to produce documentation and testimony under legal subpoena. For most of the cases in the news, the Church has not been a willing participant in the process, much less an instigator; their compliance has been forced.

So the question has to be asked: why do you as an individual apparently support an organization that knowingly shelters priests who sexually abuse children, and in many cases, actively enable their criminal behavior?

This brings a question to mind. Were people eating plain old food or real flesh and blood when Monsignor Pedo did the mass? It's a good question for believers. What kind of god comes to his people through a pedophile, or as Lion has claimed here, via an atheist masquerading as a pedophile protector.

And Frankie is blaming Satan, so did Jesus come to his people through Satan, pedophile priests and atheists?

How did it all work?

Being a closet atheist wouldn't invalidate communion. The liturgy is a correct form of words and actions where people commune with God in a sacrament that can't be prevented by the presence of someone whose participation in that act isn't sincere.
If the atheist came out and declared before Mass that they were a fake priest, then the participants would know in advance that the Mass wasn't valid and therefore they couldn't/wouldn't take part for the same reason they wouldn't take part if their own heart wasn't sincere.

Atheists can be as obsessive as theists. Both sides can have a 'religious zeal'.

So it doesn't matter who or what says the mass. This, of course, is according to a catechism written by multiple holy order pedos. If that's the case and the intercessor does not matter, this is the age of robotics and automation, and we can give the robot a penis so all is well as can be.

If the intercessor must be a breathing organism then perhaps trained dogs, the threat from father pedo would be forever vanquished. Jesus via anything seems to be the rule.

The question also arises as to how many early christian leaders were Pedo material. Some of the characters in the jesus stories could have been pedophiles and even jesus would not have ratted them out because he knew even pedophiles would work just fine.

Very interesting stuff. Thank-you, Lion. I can see how the RCC got into the mess it's in.

Unsurprisingly, LIRC just makes shit up....

I didn't say it doesn't matter who says the Mass/Communion.
Your question was about unkowingly receiving Communion from an atheist pretending to be a priest - someone phands calls a True Priest.
If you knew that the person consecrating the Eucharist was NOT ordained and/or not devout then you can't or won't consider that a valid Mass from the outset.
