This is a brazen attack on the freedom of conservatives everywhere!

It looks like the conservative planners of the Unite The Right rally in Charlottesville were talking about the possibility of driving cars into crowds of protesters for expressing views contrary to their own. It's possible that what happened was planned.

So the leaders of the "Unite the White" terrorists cell are ordered in their trial to produce the contents of their terrorist cell chat room. I can imagine why they would resist!

Why is a judge talking to these guys? Isn't this the NSA's job?

I thought that the entire purpose of the Patriot Act was to give them the ability to access communication records of terrorist cells suspected of planning attacks which targeted American citizens. This would seem to be a thing which falls directly under their jurisdiction.

Yeah, but we prefer to pretend that there are several steps in the process before legal accountability.
We do not like to think that a nondescript man bumped into the judge on his way into court and said, "Ask to see their phones. Three August. 12:13 pm."

It's more sporting this way, gives the prey a chance to squirm a bit...

But why would you tip your hands to the terrorists in the first place? All of those records are stored with AT&T or whomever their cell phone plans are with. Isn't the NSA supposed to get some sort of secret warrant which forces that company to turn them over and then grab the terrorists at night and ship them off to Guantanamo until the War on Terror is finished?

Is fighting terrorism no longer a thing your government is interested in? I thought it was their thing.

Yeah, but you're talking about Patriot Act terrorists...Brown people, overseas.
Not fun-loving freedom fighters planning terrorist acts at home, that's just 1st Amendment stuff.
