'Nooses' in Oakland park were exercise aids, man says

Oakland’s mayor said five ropes found hanging from trees in a city park are nooses and racially-charged symbols of terror but a resident said they are merely exercise equipment that he put up there months ago. Mayor Libby Schaaf said Wedesday that a hate crime investigation was under way after a social media post identified a noose at the city’s popular Lake Merritt. Police said they searched the area on Tuesday and found five ropes attached to trees.

Victor Sengbe, who is black, told KGO-TV that the ropes were part of a rigging that he and his friends used as part of a larger swing system. He also shared video of the swing in use.

“Out of the dozen and hundreds and thousands of people that walked by, no one has thought that it looked anywhere close to a noose. Folks have used it for exercise. It was really a fun addition to the park that we tried to create,” Sengbe said.

“Intentions don’t matter when it comes to terrorizing the public,” Schaaf said. “It is incumbent on all of us to know the actual history of racial violence, of terrorism, that a noose represents and that we as a city must remove these terrorizing symbols from the public view.”

Intent doesn't matter. This is like a South Park episode.

You know, it's my tax money that's being wasted here. But I blame the people who made this unauthorized "improvement" to Merritt Park rather more so than whoever saw a noose and over-reacted. I saw the original picture that was going around, which looked rather more noose-like.

"Terrorizing" implies intent. You know, given how many mayors have recently shown what idiots they are (Seattle mayor Jenny Durkin continuing to support CHAZ/CHOP and Duluth, MN mayor Emily Larson removing the word "chief"), I have come to appreciate the level-headedness and intellect of Mayor Pete. May he never succumb to the idiocy of the cultural revolution.

Not true. It has not been established that any of those six have been lynched, much less all of them.
Some or all of those could be suicides, or just regular murders made to look like a suicide.

Edited to add: in at least of of those hangings, that of Malcolm Harsch, there is video evidence that it was indeed suicide.

But not let that detract you from your racist narrative that white people are at fault for everything ...

Her statement that "terrorizing" has nothing to do with intent is even more stupid.

It's worth noting that there are plenty of whites who detest blacks with the same level of disgust that the Nazis demonized Jews. It would not surprise me one bit to find that they are killing blacks.

While there are people of all races that have that kind of hatred for the other, "plenty" is quite an exaggeration. And it is pretty racist to single out white people for that kind of accusation. If you look at FBI data, more than twice as many black people kill white people than white people who kill black people. And yet the media only focuses on the latter, even if they have to sensationalize.

Note that all these hangings have been initially ruled as suicides and one, that of Malcolm Harsch, has been proven suicide by video evidence. And there is no evidence of foul play with any of the others.

Think about it: that's a lot of trouble to go to if you want to die. There are many, many other easier ways to accomplish the task, with far less discomfort, pain, or trouble. I mean, if you just want to hang yourself, it's pretty easy to do it where you live.

And yet people do it. People who kill themselves are not in their most rational frame of mind. And perhaps they want to send a message.

Same bullshit was offered by the race warriors - how it had to have been lynching by the Klan, how no black people hang themselves from trees, blah blah. Turned out he was a gay black man whose family did not accept him, which is why he killed himself.

As for the effigy, I don’t know. There’s so much going on and being done by so many, including false flags, that it seems dangerous to assume that anything is what it seems to be on the surface.

If you look at FBI data, more than twice as many black people kill white people than white people who kill black people.

The ratio of white to blacks who are killed by whites is 11:1. The ratio of blacks to whites killed by blacks is 5:1. IOW, the same : other race ratio for white killers is just over double what it is for black killers. Of course, most killings are within race for proximity reasons. However, the ratio of whites to blacks in the country is almost 6:1.
So, white killers have to really go out of their way if they want to target blacks, in fact, six times more out of their way than blacks who want to target whites. Therefore, if both races were acting similarly in terms of how often they go out of their proximity to target the other race, then the white:black ratio of victims killed by whites should be about 6 times higher than the black:white ratio killed by blacks. Yet, the ratio difference is merely double, or 1/3 what is predicting by equal inter-racial targeting. And note that none of this is affected by the higher murder rates for blacks b/c the ratios are already account for that.

IOW, independent of overall crime rates, when you account for the differences in random probability that are determined by the 6 fold greater proportion of potential random victims who are white versus black, then whites are 3 times more likely to go out of their proximity and target blacks than the reverse.
