ALL LIVES MATTER

That objection doesn't make any sense--you can't simply use other words when the specific topic is filler words!

I think the objections originally came from some black students. I also read that some Chinese students (or some members of the Chinese community at least) are objecting to the objecting, on the basis that it's disrespectful to their language if it can't be used.

Innocent in one language can be naughty in another. Long ago my wife was puzzled when I (to her ears) told her that what she was looking for was at the back of the cunt section. When talking to her I do often use Chinese words that I know mixed into English so a mixed-language sentence is nothing unusual and she didn't understand what I was actually saying so she interpreted it in Shanghainese (it wasn't a word in Mandarin) and was puzzled.

Never been a fan of cops, but that's pretty low. Chanting that they hope for death, blocking the emergency entrance of the hospital. Low.

And getting through the emergency room doors of a hospital can be a life-or-death matter. Blocking them is therefore a very serious matter, they should be promptly removed by whatever level of force is needed to accomplish it promptly.

There's a video here for a bit of context.

Looks like a handful of folks of no particular affiliation where one can be heard saying, "I hope they die". Doesn't look like a whole lot of ER blockage going on. Boy, if you read about this on Fox and a few other select sites, I could see where one might think worse of it.

I think this is the video you're referring to.:

There's no vehicle to see how they would react, it looks blocky to me.

Those protesters are flying the Pan-African flag. That's been a thing substantially long before this BLM protest. So I don't consider them BLM but they are BLM sympathizers. I personally don't agree with the wishing the officers would die thing nor their choice to stand at the emergency room entrance (whether or not that's where the ambulances enter) regardless of this being or not being an isolated issue.

Edit: Note, it seems only one person said they wish the officers would die, but just like good officers don't step in to correct bad officers good protesters (if there was any there) didn't step in and say "brah, that's not our message". Just sayin.

I'm not in the least concerned about black people saying terrible things that white people don't like as long as police continue to murder black people in the street and get away with it.

I think I'm reading this wrong. :)

Rearrange the sentence. As long as police continue to murder black people in the street and get away with it, I am not in the least concerned about black people saying terrible things that white people don't like.

That's exactly how I took it though I couldn't ignore that it was open to interpretation. It's this sort of thing that gets Dean's fired kna-mean?

Imo, that's a very regrettable and unhelpful attitude given what was done and said in this case.

You must be an authoritarian follower, then.

Are you being serious? I can't tell.

Nah, it's one of Floof's pet theories.

Most days, I tend to think it's mostly only people on the internet whose political views are simplistically polarised, that that subsection of the demographic is, for a variety of reasons, prone to it. Other days I'm not sure. I do hope there's actually a majority (even if mostly silent) of reasonable moderates out there.

Some people are getting upset at BLM due to BLM actions. BLM is hurting itself by attacking it's allies....

Timothy McVeigh killed hundreds. We don't write "White Americans hurt themselves by blowing up the Federal building." McVeigh did that. We don't write "Americans with German ancestry are destroying the U.S.A." We write that Donald J. Trump is doing that.

It wasn't "Republicans" who killed 9 people in a South Carolina church; it was Dylann Roof. A tiny percentage of Republicans are criminals. A tiny percentage of BLM protestors are criminals. Which tiny percentage is slightly larger? Does it matter?

To blame "BLM", or Blacks more generally, for the actions of a small minority is --C--T.

Huh? Did Harry blame Black people more generally?

And I mean, I would say that Timothy McVeigh's terroristic bombings did hurt the cause he was apparently supporting, the sort of amorphous, anti-federal government extremist right-wing thing (generally racist and very antisemetic anyway, but definitely, it didn't do that movement any favors among the general public).

You mean what was said. Actual violence against black people is terrible, but oh, my goodness, black people said something horrible to white people!

Sure, murdering black people in the street is awful, but looting is worse!

Police brutalizing black people as they please is terrible and we should do something about it, but not until black people stop protesting and saying things we don't like.
