You make one valid point that religious dogma and fascism go hand-in-hand. That's b/c faith cannot survive if people are free to think and acquire new knowledge, so fascistic control must suppress free thought.

But for similar reasons, fascism is inherently authoritarian, and authoritarianism is inherently intolerant, bigoted, and violent. There is innate variation is what people desire, prefer, etc.. This will always lead some people to reject any particular authority, and authoritarianism is weakened by any amount of dissent and disloyalty, so it must be squashed. The two mechanisms of squashing dissent are to breed hateful intolerance of deviants, so the general populace can apply coercion to limit it, coupled with over state violence against those for whom more informal social pressure is insufficient.

As a result of the above, fascism also inherently leads to racist bigotry in any realistic context, b/c for cultural lineage reasons, being a different race than the fascist authority will almost always be correlated with the likelihood of not sharing their particular ideology and thus being a deviant in need of "correction".

Fascism actually didn't fuck Mussolini up. National Socialism from Germany did. Mussolini brought the nation to an economic miracle, saved Spain from Communist takeover, created Vatican City State, abolished slavery in Africa, resurrected the Roman Empire, lowered unemployment to roughly one percent, and Italy was headed from glory to glory for the rest of Mussolini's life....were it not for Hitler.

But Hitler was butthurt about the treaty of Versailles and German defeat of World war 1, so decided to retaliate. That isn't Fascism but an angry butthurt madman looking for revenge after losing a huge war and blaming Jews for the loss.

Mussolini stalled Hitler's annexation of Austria by putting troops on the border, tried to stop Hitler's invasion of Poland, stalled Hitler's invasion of Czech, and as France was falling , the Duce became heavily influenced by German propaganda bombarding him with promises of being the Caesar of a 20th Century Roman Empire


Promising him the destruction of Communism, an Antibolshivek block, and a defense of religion against militant atheism.

His alternative was to face a German invasion of Italy for being unfaithful to his pact of steel and stalling Hitler's aggression.

Benito errored , but not because he was stupid. He told Hitler after the fall of France to rest, soak up raw materials, natural resources, and better technology, not attacking the Soviets until years later.

If Hitler would have listened, he would have been the first to get the atomic bomb because he had the best scientists and weapons. He would have won.

Mussolini didn't like the Nazis anymore than America liked Stalin and the Soviets. America still entered an alliance with the Soviets. Likewise, Benito saw Communism as a far worse evil than Nazism, and the Germans and Italians both hated Communism.

So the alliance (or Axis) was always based on a common enemy, not like-mindedness.

No, Fascism is not to blame for Hitler's rage, need for revenge, and stupidity.
