I think most of us feel the opposite. You can communicate faster by words than by video, unless you are communicating something graphical. (Thus, for example, video game tips are often best in video.)

Ummm...not even close. I'm on a tablet without the keyboard to type as fast as if I were at a computer. Responding by speaking into a camera is way WAY easier and less of a headache. I shared a 40 minute long YouTube on Shinto recently. Could you imagine typing that all out.

Also, I typed up a long response recently to another post, clicked on another window, returned and all the post was gone.

There goes 20 minutes down the shitter. Oh well, worse things happen to better people.

That would make a difference. Tablets aren't very good for creating content. The time to type something is a minor part of it with a good keyboard--thinking about what to say takes more time than typing it and to a large degree the typing happens with the thinking. (Typing well is a muscle memory task, it doesn't take thought. You can think about what you're going to write while you're typing.)

I have a problem with some of these claims.

"Kept families together". What exactly does this mean? Generally it means preventing failed relationships from splitting up and it ends up being worse for everyone involved than if they did go their separate ways.

"Eliminated unwanted pregnancies". Given the state of contraception at the time I find this claim hard to believe. Kept them hidden, yes, but not gone. The normal "fix" was the couple quickly married.

"Outlawed pornography"--often tried, never successful, and not a good idea in the first place. There is a strong inverse relationship between the availability of pornography and sex crimes. (Which makes me strongly doubt the "few rapists" part--I strongly suspect they were hushed up, not gone.)

"Entertainment industry pushing hedonism"--what exactly does that mean?

"Lowered crime"--I'll accept that. Most crime comes from a small number of people, locking them up helps.

"Safe for children with few rapists and pedophiles"--The reality is that children are safer now. And most pedophiles are known to the victim and not reported. I strongly suspect bad data here.

"No school shootings"--no surprise. The school shooting is basically the product of the news media. School shooters do it for the attention they get, don't report on it and there's little incentive to engage in such conduct.

"Taught men to be real men"--needs details!

"Serial killer problem"--who knows? Less communication = less ability to even notice a serial killer. It's supposedly an American thing but they exist in other cultures also.

Incarceration rate--duh! Our incarceration rate is due to the drug war.

Divorce was extremely low in Fascist Italy and the Duce discouraged it to keep families together so children would have a mother and father figure to imitate and learn from.

Not a rebuttal--that's going to make unhappy couples and it's generally bad for the children to be in such an environment.

The Duce encouraged fertility, discouraged contraception, banned abortion, and the government paid mothers to be fruitful if they couldn't afford children.

Which has nothing to do with the issue of premarital sex.

The filth in American entertainment industry creates savages. In Fascist Italy you wouldn't even hear " Fuck" on the radio or media. Pornography was illegal and hard to come by creating fewer perverts and men without self control.

"Fuck" harms nobody. And you missed the point--less pornography means more sex crimes.

I'm a compulsory pedestrian. So I have a lot more streetside interactions than you think. I have on average between 5 and 15 encounters with the mentally ill every week, from thieves (or just plain idiots) calling me a racist in attempts to get me to hand them my phone unlocked when I wouldn't hand my phone unlocked to my own brother, to people telling me about all the demons on me.

We all have a history. I would encourage him to seek healthy outlets for his exhibitionism. It's a pity GZ is closed for the 'Rona. Maybe he could contact MAPS and sort some of the worse traumas with MDMA.

I will suffer no acceptance of an obligation to empathy for fascists, as they have expressed in their fascism an explicit disregard for empathy. I will have empathy instead for a mentally ill man who needs to find better outlets for their drives. But that involves honestly recognizing that this is not a healthy behavior, ceasing to accept coercion to involvement in that behavior, and supplying in exchange a behavior that is consensual and private.

I have lots of empathy. I want all people happy and euphoric and no suffering. Too bad I'm not God, right?

Tom, I've been dealing with this kind of behavior for a very long time.

And yes, I behave like a jerk. The fact is, there is obviously an affect of reinforcement of behavior mediated through his shame response. I don't even assume Matt even has an awareness that this is what they are doing. At any rate I suspect they would enjoy the scorn more if they leaned into it, and wouldn't lose social leverage as they do otherwise, if they did so in a more private setting.

Personally, I would rather not be forced into being an unwilling participant in his quest for psychological and/or sexual gratification of his deprecative drives. It's not a healthy behavior to seek unwilling participants in such scenes, but given his physical location I may, in fact, be coerced to be a participant purely on virtue of physical expisure. If I wish to 'ignore' him, as such, I would have to pluck out my own eyes.

So, I would encourage him that if he needs someone to call him a filthy fascist and spew hate on him until he creams himself, he should make an appointment with Mistress Mara or the like down at Ground Zero and leave the rest of us out of it
