When Gandhi visited Fascist Italy, he tried to find a single Italian who didn't like the Duce. He couldn't. One of the common responses was "he puts more money in our pockets".
If the Fascist Dictator is a benevolent genius who operates with prudence, as Benito mainly did before 1939, Fascism creates more jobs, creates economic miracles, and gives people incentive to work harder, where Communism, or a Democracy when heavily influenced by socialism, can take away incentives to work harder or get a College education.
Fascism also successfully made short work of the mafia and lowered crime.
Fascism resurrected the Roman Empire with the conquest of the Ethiopian Empire , and the house of Solomon. Fascism abolished slavery and barbaric practices within that Empire like the amputation of limbs and genitals and brought them better education and healthcare as part of a Roman Empire.
Fascism may have saved Italy and Germany from falling to Communism, and Fascism did indeed prevent Spain from falling to Communism in the Spanish Civil war. The Fascist regime in Spain lasted until after 1975 and was a crucial ally of America during the cold war.
Fascism brought into existence what is still to this day standing as it's own Fascist independent country , Vatican City State....created by Mussolini in 1929 when he signed the Lateran treaty. Pope Pius 11 called Mussolini "the man of providence!"
Now some of these might sound silly, but decorating graves and belief in contacting the dead, venerating the heroes that built the nation and wardead especially, praying for and loving the faithful departed , is a very Fascist practice, as it was the practice of the founder , who opened up his Doctrine of Fascism with a statement that death achieves for the soul perfection in a purely spiritual state.
Bringing prayer to public schools was intrinsically Fascist, but that isn't necessarily bad for society. Countless studies show scientific benefits to prayer.
Fascism had a ban on abortion. Well, I think abortion can be merciful to the child and the mother sometimes, but we kill 25% of our American citizens through abortion, and that is just ridiculous. Not to mention I've been with women who have had abortions. They were traumatized for life.
Low fertility in Europe thanks to abortion primarily is causing an enormous crisis. I don't exactly agree with a ban on abortion, because women will then get them through less safe means, and I live in the ghetto surrounded by misery, and some people, myself included, probably should be aborted. But the problem is, it is the killing of one human against another, which means abortion is literally homicide.
Fascism stresses the importance of maturity, discipline, self control, and nuclear family, expressing a disapproval of divorce (although divorce was permitted). I think we can agree those virtues are good for society.
The Doctrine of Fascism says the Fascist disdains an easy life, prays for the grace to love suffering, and the life of a Fascist is Religious and austere.
Disdain for an easy life is necessary to get ahead sometimes. It requires sacrifice to get a degree, unleash your full potential with employment, or truly be responsible. Resistance and austerity builds strength.
If you love suffering, you will be more strong, because suffering, humiliation, disappointment, sickness, and death is inevitable.
The life of a Fascist is religious. I know that countless drug addicts swear that they would never have been able to get sober without Religion.
But anyway, I think you can't really argue that most of the virtues Fascism extols , promotes, and defends ( that I mentioned ), can strengthen people, and strengthen society as a whole.
A lot of what Fascism promotes is healthy. The Doctrine of Fascism promotes no hatred or racism. The Bible and Qur'an does however. So Fascism is the more peaceful religious concept of the three in it's essence.
Fascism was promoted in the Scriptures. God never inspired a Democracy in Israel. It was totalitarian, nationalist, militant, patriotic, Right wing Jingoism, Theocracy,( too extreme even for me. Mussolini's Italy was lax in comparison). It was an absolute monarchy with an anointed leader selected by God.
They didn't call it "Fascism" but it had absolutely every qualification for being a Fascist State. If America decided to live like God's government found in Scripture, everyone and their grandmother would call it a Fascist Dictatorship.
So, the Bible is a Fascist book, and Yahweh is extremely Fascist in all but name. I don't like the Bible as a general rule, but it still influences more people than any book by far and is still the best seller year after year.
I don't really see Fascism as having been a failure. Mussolini errored thinking he needed to enter the war on Hitler's side to create an antibolshivek block, and be Caesar of a 20th century Roman Empire, to defend the west from the errors of Communism and militant secularism.
He made a mistake and deserved to lose that war. ( But he was also found innocent of war crimes.).
But Democracies make mistakes and lose wars too. Mussolini's error in judgement was no more a reflection of Fascism than genocide of Indians or slavery is a reflection of Democracy in America.
Besides, Democracy is mob rule. If 90% of the people decide crystal Meth, prostitution, pedophilia, and driving while extremely drunk should be legal, that doesn't mean it should be.
Also, Fascism can suck too. Don't get me wrong.
It depends on if the leader is an enlightened, benevolent genius!
