Here's an odd one. Denmark has passed a law to prevent lifetime prisoners to date while in prison. This means they're only allowed to have mail correspondences with people they already know and no nuptial meetings.

I don't get this. Supposedly the goal is to protect these women. But the way I think, if these women are seeking out violent murders, then how does this protect them? At least this way they're dating guys who can't physically hurt them.

And not only that... but shouldn't anybody be allowed to date anybody? If it's all consensual than, surely, it's nobody's business.

Insider knowledge, this guy was a part of the Copenhagen kinky scene and also swinger scene before going to jail. He was a charming and popular guy. This is a community where everybody talks to each other and dirty laundry gets aired very fast. It's an incredibly protective (for women's safety) community. So I don't think it's for these women's safety that they're concerned. I think they're jealous. I think these boring us fuck grey politicians are bitter about they not getting pussy they haven't paid for, while murders have women falling all over them.

I think it's moralistic nonsense. I see allowing these guys to start pen pall relationships with women of dubious judgement as just one of these fascinating things about life.

That depends on the goal, but I think the result is probably worse for the murderers, who lose the chance of having sex entirely, or almost so depending on the case, unless perhaps they already have a spouse willing to continue the relationship. On the other hand, other people only lose the chance of meeting them and having sex with them - which would happen anyway if they were executed, for example -, and not with other people.

Yes and I am fine with it. I saw psychologists advocating for keeping violent psychopaths isolated indefinitely one way or another, even after they served their sentences.
By the way, they don't have life sentences in Norway, but they can keep certain people like Breivik isolated even after release. He is not getting out completely free ever.

1. I don't support capital punishment. In fact, I wrote a sonnet about capital punishment called "Lethal Injection", which I have posted in two threads hereabouts. I did support it when I was young, or thought I did. But life and reflection and empathy changed my view altogether.

2. I was referring to certain people in the political threads who, I believe, are (or were) opposed to capital punishment, who are now wishing death on anti-vaxxers. Do you advocate capital punishment? I have no idea if you do.

3. The death penalty is for capital offenses. "Malignant stupidity" is not a capital offense. Ignorance is not a capital offense.
