Snowflakes in action: the actual reality of "snowflakes" in the world and the consequences

The shallowness of your insight is truly disappointing. The false equivalence between the experience of black americans in the USA from the 18th century to around WWII is not comparable to the situation of your Irish ancestors. Really, your post exemplifies the OP title.
And as usual, you ignore what I posted and talk about a strawman.

And I suspect that you know very little about the Irish, why they immigrated in such large numbers or what happened here when they did.
Tom

That won’t be true until black lives do matter.

Who said they don’t?
Everyone who points out that all lives matter—while ensuring that white lives matter more.

The only ones making Black life matter less are the anti-police / abolish police folks who gave us the spike in Black murder victims since the summer of Floyd. What, 3000-4000 excess deaths? Black Lives Murdered. Take a bow.
I find it hard to believe that you are serious - attributing excess deaths to the BLM during covid is breathtakingly ridiculous.

Your eyes fail you. Specifically mentioned murder victims. Nothing to do with Covid.

Your post was a straw man.

You are entitled to your suspicions - they reflect the shallowness of your responses. But one think the difference between "immigration" and "brought over as slaves" would suffice to illustrate how fucking stupid your implied equivalence was. And, then, of course, the use of the term "oppression Olympics" was the cherry on the top of that false equivalence.

This isn't what Trausti said.
I also find the 3-4K number implausible. But, a big part of the reason I oppose BLM generally is that I'm confident it will result in more violent deaths among YBM.

True, they did fail me. Just like reason did with your 3000-4000 excess deaths due to the anti-police/abolish folks.

Because the spike starts in May 2020. Did anything happen that month?

And let's not forget the prevalence of firearms that aid in those murdered during the spike.

There is a lot about it I've forgotten (thus? I need to revisit) but it was mainly a California side of the country thing than a transatlantic side of the country thing. Same poor treatment just less severe and widespread. There were some free Asians doing the trading and Asians were not legally slaves in America either (if I recall correctly).
Or we could leave the "oppression olympics" to discuss as history, and refer to the 21st century reality as the important issues.

I've managed to avoid bringing up my Irish ancestors, and their horrible situation, from the 19th century until around WWII. Because I try to stick to modern reality.
Tom
So after the war, how many Irish returning soldiers were killed compared to black returning soldiers?
Black veterans of World War II also faced violence for the most basic assertions of equality and freedom. In August 1944, the white owner of a small restaurant in Shreveport, Louisiana, shot and wounded four Black soldiers he claimed “attempted to take over his place.” He faced no charges.

In June 1947, a Black Navy veteran named Joe Nathan Roberts, studying at Temple University through the G.I. Bill, was visiting family in Sardis, Georgia, when a group of white men became upset because he refused to call them “sir.” Later that night, the men abducted Mr. Roberts from his parents’ home and shot him to death.

The next year, on September 9, 1948, a group of white men shot and killed a 28-year-old Black veteran named Isaiah Nixon outside of his home and in front of his wife and six children, just hours after he defied threats and voted in the local primary election in Montgomery County, Georgia. Two white men arrested and charged with his death were later acquitted by all-white juries.

These and countless more Black veterans served bravely in defense of America only to face terrible mistreatment, violence, and lynching when they returned. In November 1942, while stationed at Camp Polk, Louisiana, Private Merle Monroe wrote a letter to the Pittsburgh Courier describing the Black soldier’s struggle to maintain a sense of patriotic pride in the face of lynching. “Paradoxically enough,” he wrote, “our country spends millions annually in effort to build up Negro morale, both in and out of the army, yet, foolishly, destroys the blue print of its program by tolerating brutal killings without even a pretense of a fair trial.”
And then comes the question, how do you fix the effects of THAT kind of racism? It's a single event that resonates as a statement until it is invalidated: "fuck around with our racism and find out".

How do you answer that?

There are no clearer words that could be spoken than the act of seeing black people murdered in broad daylight without consequences for exercising their rights, that it doesn't matter what the text is, and that there are laws.

There only way I see that statement being unfucked from reality is to see that when white people shoot black people in such ways, that consequences come down like a fucking hammer.

Would anyone here claim that such evil does not still linger in the air of our awareness as a resounding and racially charged threat?

LOL. Mass homicide spike because of murder hornets. Brilliant. But let’s not forget how it was before Floyd tried to pass a counterfeit $20.

Black people are probably the most criminally victimized group, and it seems that BLM/progressives did everything they could following Floyd to make it easier for criminals to victimize them.

You don't seem to have read my post.
Tom
I read your post. You stopped at the 2nd world war where oppession against the Irish Americans seemed to have stopped but the oppression of African Americans didn't stop there. That was my point.

Yeah I guess it did come off that way. I need to revisit that part of history but what I was really trying to say is that I need to revisit Asian American history because there is a lot I've forgotten.

Current data shows disparate results in the opposite direction than current discrimination.

Heh. If there was systemic racism favoring White people it wouldn’t look like this:

real-median-household-income-by-race-1.png
If the fact that the real median household income for blacks has been half that of the real median household income for non-Hispanic whites for at least the past six decades is not due to racism, what is it due to? Something wrong with blacks?

So long as non-whites get advantages in school their credentials will be considered suspect. This is simply a sensible reaction to the situation and not racism. It can only be solved by making school an equal competition.
And yet, white men’s credentials were never considered suspect. For all those years when they were getting unfair advantages. It wasn’t a “sensible reaction” to wonder why only white men were getting into colleges, and whether they were worthy recipients of ther degrees.

It’s almost as if …. Well.

But as has been pointed out, it is clear that the field is still not level, and worthy minority students still have a hard time getting in,, for a variety of systemic reasons. And I know you don’t see it, that you look at the data and conclude that all the bootstraps are equal and no new discrimination is happening anywhere. But wow, the data is so clear.

And it is so depressing watching you and others proclaim that all discriimination is over and we have nothing to fix. While letting all the white men own their credentials, and denying that to minorities.

LOL. Mass homicide spike because of murder hornets.
Makes as much sense as pinning it on George Floyd's murder.

Right. Because it was the murder hornets that demoralized the police, led to depolicing, and made criminals more brazen. It’s not like restraining the police has any adverse outcomes.

And the rapid spike in murder after May 25 is purely coincidence.

So far this year, ShotSpotter activations and 911 calls about gunshots in Minneapolis have more than doubled from a year ago, according to a Star Tribune analysis of police data. Out of 3,218 such shots-fired calls this year, nearly half have been filed since George Floyd was killed on May 25.

Through Tuesday, 190 people had been shot across Minneapolis. That’s up 47% from this time last year and significantly higher than the five-year average for the same time span, according to MPD data.

Monocausal explanations for societal outcomes are for the simple minded. The notion that George Floyd's death is the cause for this is simple minded.

Now, your explanation about the police not doing their jobs is pretty interesting. Basically, you are saying the police are unprofessional. Frankly, I don't buy what you are selling. I suspect if you thought about what you actual wrote, neither do you.
