Some of our supporters of the Orange Hitler are talking about the economy as a reason.

Musk even admits The Felon is going to crash the economy.

If he got the tariffs he's talking about, it would spike prices right off the bat. If he truly plastered the Chinese with tariffs, they would do what they did last time, only with more resentment and damaged pride. They could not only find South American sources for ag products as they did before, but they could call our bluff on the US debt they're holding.
If he came anywhere close to the deportations of undocumented or TPS (Temp. Protected Status) workers he talks about, he would not only sully our national image once again (the child separations of 6, 7 years ago are an unbearably shameful chapter in our history -- many, many children are still orphaned because of Donald), but he would bring many sectors of the economy to a halt. Just see if contractors, roofers, industrial farmers, food service and food production businesses, etc. etc, etc could operate if an important labor source was obliterated. Again, prices would spike. It would be hard for him to pull back on deportations, because it's such an important part of the racial message that underlies his act.

I've always liked RollingStone opinions, especially Matt Taibbi's, but I went to the site only by clicking from elsewhere. Just now, clicking Loren's link I was asked to "Subscribe Now" if I wanted to "Read More." But when I got to the same page via a slightly different route I was presented with the full page. Whatever.

I see Taibbi now has his own site, https://www.racket.news/ . Its home page is useless, asking just for subscriptions, but clicking "No Thanks" takes one to a more useful home page. Whatever.

If "The Felon" will crash the economy, then WHY does Musk support him? Once again, a headline misleads grossly. The Internet is so full of lies and garbage now I hardly want to click.

The linked article if you can get there said:
Economists have repeatedly warned that a second Trump administration would be a boon to the ultra wealthy and a backslide for everyone else. As the 2024 campaign season enters its final days, the former president’s most prominent billionaire backer is in agreement, and he wants regular Americans to just suck it up.

On Tuesday, Elon Musk — the billionaire owner of X (formerly Twitter) and Tesla — agreed in a social media post that Donald Trump’s return to office would likely crash the economy.

“If Trump succeeds in forcing through mass deportations, combined with Elon hacking away at the government, firing people and reducing the deficit – there will be an initial severe overreaction in the economy,” user @FischerKing64 wrote on X. “Markets will tumble. But when the storm passes and everyone realizes we are on sounder footing, there will be a rapid recovery to a healthier, sustainable economy,” he added. [Swammi's emphasis]

“Sounds about right,” Musk replied.

Whether one agrees with Musk or not -- include me among "Not" -- , we must admit the Blue headline is an incomplete and misleading summary.

Yup. Classic case of lies, damned lies, and headlines.

If "The Felon" will crash the economy, then WHY does Musk support him?
Because Musk has been shown to be about as good at business as Trump. Great at self promotion, shitty everywhere else. He could actually be facing bankruptcy in a few years. His purchase of Twitter cost him a lot, and he still has loans to pay off for that, Twitter/Musk getting sued in other countries for inadequate monitoring of hate speech. The majority of his wealth is in Tesla stock, but the only new thing Tesla has put out in some time is the cybertruck which is a joke. His antics and mismanagement are not going to help that stock price. SpaceX only gets by because of government subsidies. He needs Trump for the government subsidies that keep his businesses afloat.

Well, Biden was not so great either, becasue he destroyed German and EU economy.
I'd ask for a cite, but assume that would be futile.
You need a citation for "German economy is in deep shit"?
What else you need citations for? Earth is round?

If you are going to derail, at least have a good derail that you can defend:

Bullshit, utter bullshit.
And it's not a derail, becasue american motherfuckers openly invite German companies to move to US

100% correct. We have inflation today (although it is much better) because we have too much stimulus, low employment, supply shock and related supply chain problems. Biden is trying to fix the supply chain (chips act, moving stuff in the ports); but supply chain really needs to be and has been fixed by the private sector. However, Trump will directly increase inflation with his national sales tax. Then his proposed budget plan will explode the deficit (more stimulus) and further decrease employment. How does this make any sense. As a person on the right side regarding economic issues, brother republicans, please correct my reasoning here....!

My Elon fanboy friend who listens to Dennis Prager and thinks global warming is a hoax loves his cybertruck. He can geek out for hours showing it off. He traded his plaid Tesla for it.

Me? Kia EV for my next car. Kia is killing it across the board in the design and function department for their EVs and ICE vehicles. EV6 GT is ridiculous performance for the price and costs <$2 per hundred miles if you charge of peak. EV9 is 10/10 score on Car and Driver and had very fast charge capacity. Alas, I’ve got 7.5 years before I seek to replace my Niro.

Supply chain stays vulnerable until something is done about oligopolies and vertical integration.

One of America's biggest problems is people aren't too bright, especially the ones that think that Elon can 'hack' away at the government and 'reduce the deficit.' It is claw my eyes out frustrating.

Curent budget spending?
22% Social Security
14% Health
13% Net Interest
13% Medicare
13% National Defense

75% of the budget above is not exactly easy to cut without some draconian measures. Another 10% is income security.

The budget in 2024 is about $6.75 trillion. That means around only $1.0 trillion is even mildly considerable as 'discretionary'. These efficiencies aren't hanging out there. You can cut stuff, but it will hurt a lot, and it won't get better. That $1 trillion remaining? That represents a lot of jobs.

The Musk plan is America's Brexit, where we are being sold that we'll save all this money and things will be better.

Musk said they will cut the budget by a third. They are eyeing Venezuela as their model. Only 50% in poverty. 30% inflation rate. Sounds good to Musk and Trump. I'm sure they will be fine.

My Elon fanboy friend who listens to Dennis Prager and thinks global warming is a hoax loves his cybertruck
Has anyone marketed an aftermarket kit to make a cybertruck roll coal?

I think they'd sell a lot of them...

It is a weird Venn Diagram. You see videos of the Cybertruck out sprinting a Lamborghini. And I'm thinking... who buys a pickup truck to race a Lamborghini. The funny thing is Tesla does have nice looking cars that'd be cooler to see racing a Lamborghini, but the Musk cult is so in on Musk. I thought the whole SpaceX and Tesla were good things, but the more I've learned about Musk... and the more his personality has warped over time, it is scary how people don't notice these things and they fall into a bizarre hivemind which convinces them the Cybertruck doesn't look like an industrial kitchen appliance.

Been eyeing the Kia EVs for a while now.
Between the road I live on and the fact that I don’t drive much, actually buying one doesn’t make much practical sense. But they sure seem to be leading the pack according to reviewers.

Venezuela is run by socialists.

They got into the deep shit they are in through massive overspending on social programs, not through cutting the budget by a third.

I've been eyeing an EV6 too. My current ICE car, a 2016, will be due for replacement in 3-4 years.
The EV9 is too big for my needs though.
