Split New York City Mayoral Race

To notify a split thread.
On the continuing budget resolution the left is getting squirrelly. Outright crazy rhwetoric.
Can you point to some of this "crazy rhetoric"?
Weak ideological response? The right are bad guys, the left the good guys regardless?

Just listen to the daily new , without a preconceived bias either way.

The right knows it has the upper haqnd and makes a point of saying it is only a continuing resolution with no policy. Debate on specifics to follow.

The left is screaming over specifics. Falling into a trap, the right sounds calm, the left irrational.

This time the left is looking like the bad guy. The last election showed a shift to the right, even in blue states. The left is being outmaneuvered.

If you imagine that your daily news doesn't come with a preconcieved bias already built in, then you are a gullible fool and will be a useful idiot for whoever owns your preferred media outlets.

The simple choice of what to report and what not to report, made before your daily news is ever presented to you, ensures that it is impossible for you to listen "without a preconceived bias either way".

You are being manipulated. All of us are targets of that manipulation, but here you are, actively advocating for people to follow your lead of taking your brain out at the door, and blindly accepting the daily news at face value.

The regime thanks you for your service, but please be aware that neither pay nor medals will be supplied.

If the socialist gets elected and it goes badly like I think it will he will forever be linked as representative of the democrats.

Another nail in the coffin of the democrats.

Moderates like Biden and Clinton will be forgotten. Clinton supported a balanced budget and welfare reform. Biden said 'its ok to be rich, just pay your fair share'.

There was a saying, campaign ion the left or right rule from the center. Centrists on boot sides are gone.

As I see it the right is winning the national ideological battle. The left has no idea what to do.

Not that I agree with it, the right is working to a plan. Socialist ideology is not going to counter the right. Socialist ideology is not going to solve problems.

If they're electing an Eternal Representative of the Party, I'd still prefer a honest socialist to a disgraced crook. But that also seems like a batshit insane amount of cosmic weight to place on a mayoral race, even that of New York. I may think of Rudy Guliani or Ed Koch occasionally when I am thinking of New York, but they aren't synonymous with the city and all its people, and they certainly aren't Eternally Elect hypostases of the Republican or Democratic Party! If anything, we tend to remember mayors by a distorted and half-forgotten list of their personal failings or mistakes, not really because of their party affliation as such. The work of a mayor is more grounded and visible to their citizens, it's not like the abstracted, inherently mythologized work of the White House.

What part of the right is lying that you do not get? If it was a clean CR there would be no problem.

The right is under water on every major issue. Trump and the right are getting the most blame for the shutdown. You call that winning?

Makes me wonder where you get your news from.

From bios and reporting on Trump and his businesses during the frst campaign I knew Trump would not be able to form a functioning administration. I’d seen his type in the tech world.

As to Mamdani.

1. Have you looked at his work history and qualifications?
2. Do you think he is qualified to run NYC? If so why?
3. Have you looked at what he has said over the last few years?
4. Does his views reflect your views?
5. Do you support him just because he is progressive and anti conservative?
6. Would you vote for him?

Watch the Sunday national reporting on the issues.

In the past hte roles have been reversed. Democrats wanting a clean CR and the republicans holding it hostage for what it wants.

Both sides use the same tactics, and both sides cry foul when they are on the losing side.

From reporting his morning reporting polls show majority is blaming republicans.

Democrats are rung polls. If it shifts to blaming democrats they will move onthe CR.

One of the few talking points the democrats have right now is health care tax credits. People lke Obama Care.

Republicans do nor want to renew the tax credits, but hey are watching the polls too.

That in nutshell is politics. Both sides use brinkmanship.

Different ideologues, but tactics are the same..

None of those are relevant to anyone who is ineligible to vote for the NYC mayor. Moreover, your questions ignore the salient point that there is more than one candidate, so voters are choosing the best/least bad candidate,

Where do you get your news from???

There have always been negotiations over CRs and budgets. Not this time. Mike Johnson literally said the CR needs to be accepted by the Dems and THEN negotiations will take place.

The Republicans in the senate could literally remove the filibuster on the CR anytime they want to. They are in charge. They make the rules. They want the government shut down but they want the blame to go to the Democrats. They want to destroy mandated departments of government, primarily anything that helps the little people. Notice the department of government that authorizes mergers is still operating but the department that investigates trust violations is shut down.

He wouldn't have been my first choice. His biggest problem is he over-promised what he is legally capable of enacting. This is going to make it look like he hasn't accomplished much. In not that so long ago past, he has said some things that are problematic as well regarding Israel.

His main opponent resigned as Governor. That is a big mark against him there.

Mamdami isn't a threat to Democracy in NYC. The mayor has a leash on him. But he has spoken loudly about issues that are impacting average people that live in the city. Whether he can help those issues is to be seen, but he can't do a lot unilaterally. So people can sleep safely knowing that the Socialists aren't turning NYC red.

Yes, but no. There is a very notable difference, and that is off-topic.

Quickly though, you are absolutely right that typically the power in charge wants the "clean bill" and the opposition tries to use the situation as leverage. The critical difference in this case, is that Trump has been illegally impounding spending that was passed as law. What good is the status quo CR or peven passing a budget at all, when Trump isn't obeying the law and impounding spending the Democrats had included in the budget?

The responses make my pint. A case of how ourpolitcs is pauperized ideology.

The question is regardless of which side you are on what do you thinkqualifies the guy to run NYC?

I don't see anything at all.

Progressives follow an ideological leader as do the MAGA zombies follow Trump.

Not your first choice Jimmy? It is no choice at all.

It is easy to be a political activist here in the USA, with few limits extreme political views are protected.

'Down With Racist Police And America!' ,Why bot go to Uganda where he came from which has some of the worse human rights and work for justice? Probably because you could get killed.

Trump actually has a point. America is the land of perpetuity for any anti Aerograms to cone and live. Closet Marxists. Tear it down with no actual plan to replace it with anything but ideology.

Exactly. The only way you can hope to get a reasonable approximation of the truth is compare opposing sources.

Speaking of Uganda:

KILL GAYS BILL CHAMPION GETS COMMONWEALTH JOB

Mamba Online said:
MP Rebecca Kadaga, who has publicly championed Uganda’s gay death bill, has been elected chairperson of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP).

Kadaga, who is also Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, in November 2012 promised anti-gay religious activists to have the horrific Anti-Homosexuality Bill passed as “a Christmas gift” in order to protect Uganda’s children from “the serious threat” posed by homosexuals.
Speaking at the 127th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Canada that same year, Kadaga lashed out at international critics of the proposed law.
“If homosexuality is a value for the people of Canada they should not seek to force Uganda to embrace it. We are not a colony or a protectorate of Canada,” she said.
