Alberta overwhelmingly voted to remain in a Canada (and whine instead) and not even give thoughts to having a referendum on leaving the nation by about 3 votes to 1 vote.... implying that the Conservatives just wasted a lot of money.

No word whether the secessionists will put a referendum on the next ballot to secede from Alberta. Could be trouble, no region of the province voted in majority to leave.

There were 9 other questions on the ballot regarding funding, judges, how federalism should work instead. These votes were much closer, generally with Albertans wanting to hold back financial support of migrants and having more control on spending. This would be the second vote in the last month where the locals clearly didn't support leaving the nation, the other being in Quebec where the PQ won, but with the smallest plurality in history.

Canada has long been a weakly joined confederation. However, the forces that helped push the tea-party in the US into becoming QANON swizzling MAGA hats wearing partisan idiots, has through osmosis, shifted into Canada, leading idiots in Alberta to think they'd be fine on their own if oil drops to $50 a barrel. Bots online continue to shove dissension into the minds of many people, left and right wing. It is what has driven Smith and Polievre's careers, but the careers have hit a roadblock. As all they have is complaining. They have no alternatives for Canada. Meanwhile the Liberal party went with a business moderate who is brainstorming ways to raise capital to build out infrastructure to allow the nation to sell their resources to a nation that isn't conveniently along their southern border.

The winner in this is Mark Carney (an Albertan) and Canada. The losers are Danielle Smith who supported not leaving, but she helped provide this sham to happen anyway. A poor person's pre-Brexit vote.
