What President Obama says he answers when he's asked "Do you have a bucket list?" - "I say, well I have something that rhymes with bucket." Immigration executive action? "Bucket!" he deadpanned. Stricter climate rules. "Bucket!"

OBAMA: But we need to focus on big challenges like climate changes.

LUTHER: Hey, folks, if you haven’t noticed, California is bone dry. It looks like a trailer for the new “Mad Max” movie up in there. Y’all think that Bradley Cooper came here because he wants to talk to Chuck Todd? He needed a glass of water! Come on.

OBAMA: The science is clear, the science is clear. Nine out of the 10 hottest years ever came in the last decade.

LUTHER: Now I’m not a scientist, but I do know how to count to ten.

OBAMA: Rising seas, more violent storms…

LUTHER: You got mosquitoes, sweaty people on the trains stinking it up. It’s just nasty!

OBAMA: I mean, look at what’s happening right now. Every serious scientist says we need to act. The Pentagon says it’s a national security risk. Miami floods on a sunny day and instead of doing anything about it, we’ve got elected officials throwing snowballs in the Senate.

LUTHER: Okay, I think they got it, bro.

OBAMA: It is crazy! What about our kids? What kind of stupid, short-sided irresponsible bull —

LUTHER: Whoa, whoa whoa, whoa!

OBAMA: What?

LUTHER: Hey!

OBAMA: What!

LUTHER: All due respect, sir, you don’t need anger translator. You need counseling.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love this president? :D

Nothing beats this moment though:

I really enjoyed the Anger Translator. I could totally do that job!! Better than whatsisface. I could! Easy. It's a job I feel I was born to do.

What I loved even more was President Obama letting loose with the "anger". I wonder how many times during his Presidency he really wanted to say stuff that way. LOL

I'm sure what the "progressives" meant to say is that they find the spectacle of the watchdog reporters chumming it up with the politicians they are supposed to hold accountable at lavish parties with celebrities and 1%ers paid for by megacorporations deeply disgusting.

I think I read somewhere about Obama saying that Bachmann predicted the end times because of Obama... speak about a legacy!

Colbert's handling of one of them pointed that out. His jokes were almost not jokes at all, and everyone yucked it up. He called out the most disturbing issues at the time and it was just humor.

It's a weird dissonance of emotion, that's for sure.
I wish he could say all the same things without the clubbiness and the glitz and the exclusive squanderous decadence of it all, diluted by being "funny" in a "safe" way.
If I had my 'druthers, I'druther see this event completely cancelled and have a video production of same sentiment published to us all.
And for everyone to take it seriously.

But.
That's not a thing that can happen in this universe.

And
at the same discordant moment, it's pretty funny.

Kinda calls for a candy bar and a diet coke, doesn't it?

Be careful with ambivalence! It's very scary to some people.

You know, sometimes I think the right needs a dose of the angry man translator. Instead of treading lightly and "respecting" these silly ideas, we need to...
