Romney: Trump still 'most powerful voice' in GOP | TheHill

Clyburn responds to Ocasio-Cortez remarks: 'I don't get hung up on labels' | TheHill
That's Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-SC, House Democratic Party whip
“You know, anytime you challenge the status quo, you are looked upon as being liberal. No, you just want to be a part of what's going on in this great country, a country that you’ve helped to make great. And that’s all this is,” said Clyburn.

“So I don't, I don’t get hung up on labels, so I don’t know what I am. I'm an American, a very proud American. And I’m a Democrat, a very proud Democrat. So I just want us to be Democrats in a big tent, and these labels, I reject.”

A Rollicking N.Y.C. Celebration for Biden’s Win, Well Into the Night - The New York Times - "People cheered, danced, broke out champagne and honked horns in the city, which is President Trump’s hometown but had turned on him."

How Many Danced, Celebrated in the Streets After Biden's Victory - The New York Times - "Defeating President Trump can do strange things for a man’s reputation."

Treasury Secretary Warren? Progressives Line Up to Press Their Agenda on Biden - The New York Times - "With control of the Senate unclear, liberal Democrats are trying to figure out how to achieve their policy goals through the White House."

I think that Mitch McConnell is looking forward to obstructing the Democrats yet again.

A Transfixed World Awaits What’s Next in America - The New York Times - "As U.S. results trickled in, they were analyzed far and wide with the sort of blanket news coverage most often reserved for elections closer to home."

Indian Village Prays for a U.S. Election Victory for Kamala Harris - The New York Times - "Those who live in the hometown of Ms. Harris’s grandfather see the Democratic vice-presidential nominee as one of their own. “She is the daughter of the village’s soil,” one woman said."
The village, Thulasendrapuram, has a special relationship to Ms. Harris, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee. It’s where her maternal grandfather was born more than 100 years ago.

On Tuesday, Thulasendrapuram, which is about eight hours’ drive from the southern city of Chennai, pulled together in a special ceremony at the main temple to wish Ms. Harris good luck on Election Day.

Biden Victory Brings Sighs of Relief Overseas for Foreign Leaders - The New York Times - "Foreign leaders showered the president-elect with congratulations. For many, the importance of this election was as much about removing Mr. Trump as ushering in Mr. Biden."
“Welcome back America!” the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, said in a Twitter message to Mr. Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, hailing Canada’s historic friendship with the United States, said, “I’m really looking forward to working together.” President Emmanuel Macron of France said, “We have a lot to do to overcome today’s challenges. Let’s work together!” Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany declared, “Our trans-Atlantic friendship is irreplaceable, if we want to overcome the great challenges of our time.”

...
“I feel optimistic for the first time in quite a long time,” said Simon Fraser, a former head of Britain’s Foreign Office. “I’m not expecting a radical change in American foreign policy, but I do expect a change in body language and tone, and a shift away from unilateralism to collaboration with allies.”

Nicola Sturgeon, the first minister of Scotland, did not wait for the race to be called, tweeting on Friday evening, “The world can be a dark place at times just now — but today we are seeing a wee break in the clouds.”
UK PM Boris Johnson noted KH's “historic achievement” as the first woman elected VP.
“The U.S. is our most important ally,” he said, “and I look forward to working closely together on our shared priorities from climate change to trade and security.”
But Trump didn't get along very well with Europe.
Even European leaders who tried to establish a rapport with Mr. Trump, like Mr. Macron, eventually gave up. Diplomats said these leaders hoped now to reset the trans-Atlantic relationship, particularly since Mr. Biden is expected to emphasize repairing frayed ties with Europe.

“You will be able to have a coherent conversation with a normal guy,” said Gérard Araud, the former French ambassador to Washington, who sat in on often discursive exchanges between Mr. Trump and Mr. Macron.
What an indictment of Trump.

Chinese State Media Reacts to Biden Victory With Cautious Optimism - The New York Times - "Propaganda outlets said a Biden presidency would most likely restore stability to frayed U.S.-China relations, but warned that tensions would continue."

Biden's victory margin is now:

PA 0.61%, GA 0.21%, AZ 0.56%, NV 2.4%, NC -1.4% (Trump still ahead in that state)

Biden plans to issue orders reversing Trump policies immediately upon taking office: report | TheHill
People close to Biden’s plans told the Post that he plans to rejoin the Paris climate accords, which the U.S. officially left on Wednesday. He’s also reportedly planning to reverse the U.S.’s withdrawal from the World Health Organization, which is slated to take effect July 6, 2021.

Biden also wants to immediately repeal the ban on immigration that targeted many Muslim-majority countries and reinstate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, according to the Post.

Kushner has approached Trump about concession: report | TheHill - conceding defeat. Seems like he is sober. But Trump has issued a statement saying,
“The simple fact is this election is far from over. Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor,” the president said in a statement released by his campaign after Biden was declared the winner on Saturday.

The president said his campaign will begin court fights the later this week “to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated.”

“We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner,” Trump said, while also accusing the media trying to aid him.

You forgot Alaska! The dog sleds are still being received with ballots though.

AOC says Democratic Party's digital operations are "extraordinarily weak" - Axios - she appeared on CNN's State of the Union
"If you look at some of these some of the arguments that are being advanced, that 'defund the police hurt' or that arguments about socialism hurt, not a single member of Congress that I'm aware of campaigned on socialism or defunding the police in this general election," Ocasio-Cortez told CNN's "State of the Union."

"I believe that there are many areas that we can point at in centralized democratic operations that are extraordinarily weak. For example, our digital campaigning is very weak. This is an area where Republicans are actually quite strong."

"I believe that many Republicans were very effective at digital organizing strategy as well, whereas the Democratic Party is still campaigning largely as though it's 2005. And I know a lot of us don't want to hear this, but 2005 was 15 years ago. So we can do better."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Except the argument here isn’t ideological- are purple communities not on the internet? You can run a moderate message & not change it at all & my message still applies.

Dems must run like it’s 2020, not like it’s 2005. That has nothing to do with ideology. It’s about capacity." / Twitter

Jared Kushner, Melania Trump advise Trump to accept election loss - CNNPolitics
President Donald Trump's inner circle is beginning to split over his ongoing refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election, as Jared Kushner and first lady Melania Trump advised him to come to terms with President-elect Joe Biden's victory and his adult sons pressed him and allies to keep fighting.

...
The President, who was at his golf course in Sterling, Virginia, on Saturday when the race was called, has not denied the outcome of the election privately even as he does so publicly, sources told CNN. But he's continuing to push his attorneys to pursue legal challenges that would delay formal certification of the results, and he has made no public indication that he is ready to accept the results of the election.

...
In recent conversations, Eric Trump has told allies he believes the election was "stolen from us," according to a source familiar with his comments, and vowed to fight to overturn the results.

And in the days since Don Jr. called out Republicans -- and in particular "2024 GOP hopefuls" -- for not offering sufficient backing to the President's claims, the eldest son has been waging a lobbying effort among senators and governors to release supportive statements, according to people familiar with the conversations.

...
The President has privately expressed frustration that some Republican leaders appear ready to move on from his race to focus on the Georgia election, people familiar with the conversations said, insisting they focus on him instead.
A big baby even at the bitter end.

He's always been a big baby. That will never change. It's interesting how so many people still think Don the Con is going to magically start acting like an adult one day. Projecting maybe?

Trump, who never admits defeat, mulls how to keep up fight
President Donald Trump never admits defeat. But he faces a stark choice now that Democrat Joe Biden has won the White House: Concede graciously for the sake of the nation or don’t — and get evicted anyway.

After nearly four tortured days of counting yielded a victory for Biden, Trump was still insisting the race was not over. He threw out baseless allegations that the election wasn't fair and “illegal” votes were counted, promised a flurry of legal action and fired off all-caps tweets falsely insisting he'd “WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT."
Does he have any evidence? Other than what some Fox & Friends guests might have claimed.

Opinion | Biden must put down the monster that is Trumpism - The Washington Post
According to exit polls, 57 percent of White people voted for President Trump. The president won White people in every age group. He scored especially well with White people without college degrees, earning votes from 67 percent of men and 60 percent of women in this group. Trump was weakest with White college graduates — but he still won about half of the votes in this category.

In contrast, the majority of every non-White group cast their ballots against Trump. Joe Biden received 87 percent of the votes of African Americans, 66 percent of the votes of Latinx people and 63 percent of the votes of Asian Americans. While Trump picked up votes from Black men and Latinx communities compared with 2016, this shift was not nearly enough to upend Biden’s supermajority among African Americans, and his winning approximately two-thirds of the Hispanic vote. (I acknowledge that exit polls are not precise and are subject to revision.)

...
Trump will go down as one of the worst presidents in U.S. history. His response, or lack thereof, to the coronavirus pandemic contributed to the deaths of thousands of Americans. Trump’s placing of his political interests above the nation’s led to his impeachment. His coziness with Russia was, at best, corrupt and, at worst, treasonous. The next attorney general will have difficult decisions to make about whether the former president should be investigated for alleged criminal conduct.

“The simple fact is this election is far from over. Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor,” Trump said in a statement released by his campaign.
So, wait, NOW he wants the winner certified by the state, not called at half-time simply because of a huge numerical advantage?

Weird.

Ocasio-Cortez has some strengths, but one thing that seems to escape her is that the nation both voted to fire Trump and for the status quo. This election saw the change of the fewest Legislatures since 1946! The GOP made gains overall, and held the Senate. The Dems inability to do anything in TX, NC, and PA... as well losing both houses in NH indicates something that I don’t think anyone quite understands yet.

I see all this, the reddening midwest and see her comments, in part, as being naive and ignorant. Ocasio-Cortez isn’t James Carville. She has a feel for the younger voter, not the old white voter. I’d say one thing we learned is the conservative Hispanic voter is not up for grabs, unless they are Hispanic and running for President. If Trump’s shit didn’t sway, nothing will.

Our country has shifted and we need to go through the numbers and demographics and see what the heck happened, other than the general Western World’s shift to fascism.

Trump’s bid to discredit election raises fear that he will undermine a smooth transfer of power - The Washington Post
Trump associates have said privately that the president is unlikely to formally concede the race under any circumstances in the traditional manner of a concession speech and a phone call to Biden.

And though some aides have suggested that they are hoping to convince him to publicly commit to a peaceful transition, experts warned that Trump could work to scuttle cooperation with Biden’s team in ensuring a smooth turnover of the management of the federal government on Inauguration Day come Jan. 20.

“I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT!” Trump tweeted Saturday shortly before all major news organizations called the contest for Biden.
He can't stop acting like a big baby. Doesn't that ever bother any of his underlings or family members or any Congressional Republicans? Mitch McConnell's tolerance of his immaturity is amazing.

Trump, a president obsessed with winning, spends the day refusing to admit his loss to Biden - The Washington Post

Trump’s heart doesn’t seem to be in it - The Washington Post
Shortly before noon Saturday, The Washington Post and other major news organizations called the 2020 presidential election for Joe Biden. At the time, President Trump was playing golf, the same game he said in 2016 that he wouldn’t have time for as president. And shortly thereafter, his campaign held a news conference disputing the election results that was for some strange reason held at a landscaping company that shares a name with a luxury hotel, Four Seasons. This led to suspicions that the scheduling of it had been botched. Adding to the bizarreness: The landscaping company was located next to a sex shop and — in a particularly unfortunate turn from a metaphorical standpoint — across the street from a crematorium.

Despite Trump and his campaign’s baseless allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 election, the scenes of Saturday — and indeed much of the three days before it — don’t exactly paint a picture of a campaign working tirelessly and strategically to overturn the results of its impending loss. The question has always been whether these allegations were truly about legal challenges or about Trump claiming he never actually lost in the first place, and it’s looking more and more like it’s the latter.
That may be optimistic, since he is not someone who is willing to accept defeat.

After Biden win, parties turn to Senate runoffs - The Washington Post - in Georgia, where the two parties are nearly evenly matched. The Republicans did better in Congressional races than in the Presidential one, for whatever odd reason, and I'm concerned that that will happen here.

Despite Trump and his campaign’s baseless allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 election,
Anyone see The Sting? The scene where the mob boss loses the poker game?
Floyd: Doyle, I KNOW I gave him four THREES. He had to make a SWITCH. We can't let him get away with that.
Doyle Lonnegan: What was I supposed to do - call him for cheating better than me, in front of the others?

Trump should keep rage tweeting and threatening lawsuits until he admits the reason he thinks Biden cheated is that HE cheated, and still lost.

Conor Lamb, House Moderate, on Biden’s Win, ‘the Squad’ and the Future of the Democratic Party - The New York Times
What went wrong for House Democrats when they were supposed to pick up seats?

I’m giving you an honest account of what I’m hearing from my own constituents, which is that they are extremely frustrated by the message of defunding the police and banning fracking. And I, as a Democrat, am just as frustrated. Because those things aren’t just unpopular, they’re completely unrealistic, and they aren’t going to happen. And they amount to false promises by the people that call for them.

If someone in your family makes their living in some way connected to natural gas, whether on the pipeline itself, or you know, even in a restaurant that serves natural gas workers, this isn’t something to joke around about or be casual about in your language.
I agree that "defund the police" is an awful slogan, but about fracking and natural gas, is one supposed to support it just because it employs some people? AOC herself has talked about finding other jobs for fossil-fuel workers, so that doesn't have to be an issue. I personally think that we are stuck with it until renewable-energy capacity can increased enough to make it unnecessary.

TikTokers post videos of themselves appearing to troll Trump voter fraud hotline

Once again, TikTok users are trying to troll President Donald Trump, this time by calling into a hotline for voter fraud started by his campaign and making false, and often silly, reports to clog the lines.

Even before the ballot counting began, Trump had made false claims about voter fraud. The claims have led to accusations of vote-rigging, protests at counting centers and false declarations of victory from Trump.

The campaign set up a voter fraud hotline for people to report any shady goings-on they noticed at their voting stations.

"Help stop voter suppression, irregularities and fraud," read a post on Twitter promoting the hotline from Trump's son Eric Trump. "Tell us what you're seeing."

But TikTokers saw the hotline as an opportunity to mess with the campaign.

People in general hate the cultural left shit. Legal, racist admission policies failed in California. Fifteen hour minimum wage won in Florida.

The idea that leftist policies like "government run healthcare" are unpopular is fundamentally untrue. Here's Fox's own analysis (Fox!):

fox-government-run-healthcare.jpeg

And saying "government run healthcare" is as poisoned a way as possible to put it!

Especially since COVID, the support for the ACA is softening, and that's no surprise, because it is a shit idea, created by the Heritage Foundation.

Or, simply consider the fact that every member who lost their seat opposed M4A, and every member who supported it won:
