In this context "abusive" refers to physical violence--a criminal act.

If a boss is beating a worker it would be equivalent--but how often does that happen??

There was no mention of any physical violence.

Treating another person like you are their master is a form of abuse.

There is so much abuse inherent to the capitalist system it takes a lot of education to not see it.
