TSA will start playing a video by shitbag Kristi Noem at airport security that blames the shutdown on democrats. Once again a huge violation of the Hatch Art but I don't know how to describe the stupidity of purposely pissing off half the people in line who are already somewhat pissed off anyway and potentially causing arguments between MAGAturds and sane people.

I was at SFO and ORD this weekend and neither was showing the video.

Most airports are owned by a local/regional government authority so I suppose it would be up to the airport manager in consultation with the entity (city council?) that can fire them. The federal government cannot dictate such action to them.
In the FAA, we basically had to play by the city's rules.

Portland is not along with other airports because it's illegal by the Harch Act and airports typically belong to municipalities, not the fed.

According to the Boston Globe,

Major airports in New England are not playing a TSA video featuring Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem in which she levels blame against Congressional Democrats for the government shutdown and any attendant travel delays, officials said.

The Massachusetts Port Authority, which oversees Logan and two other airports in the state, is not running the video, and has not received a request by the Department of Homeland Security to do so, said Jennifer Mehigan, spokeswoman for Massport. She noted that TSA checkpoints at the facilities do not have video screens to display the video.

“The video is not being played at our airports,” Mehigan said in an email Tuesday. “Besides, there are no video screens at our TSA checkpoints.”

In addition to Logan, Massport runs Worcester Regional Airport and Hanscom Field in Bedford, according to the agency’s website.

T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick, R.I., and Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Conn., are also not playing the video, officials said.

Several airports around the country have declined to run the video, citing the political nature of its content, the Washington Post reported.

“We believe the Hatch Act clearly prohibits use of public assets for political purposes and messaging,” Molly Prescott, a spokesperson for the Port of Portland, told the Post.

Governor Maura Healey said Tuesday that it’s on the Trump administration and Republicans who hold majorities in Congress to reopen the federal government.

“Secretary Noem is a walking violation of the Hatch Act, as are so many members of the Trump administration,” Healey said when asked about the TSA video. “I mean, day after day. It’s unbelievable. It’s outrageous.”

Mehigan said that while Massport has not received a request to air the video, TSA at Logan likely received a request.

Users on Reddit also joined the exposé effort, posting examples of accounts that appeared to misrepresent their origins. One Reddit user posted a screenshot of a woman who claimed to live in Texas but instead appeared to be located in Russia, though as of Sunday, the user named in the post appears to have a US location. Many in the comments posted other examples they found.

Podcaster Matt Binder posted screenshots showing that Charlie’s Voice Rising, a popular Charlie Kirk fan account, is based in Eastern Europe (non-EU).

I'm going to be really controversial here - I think ICE agents require more than 47 days of training to perform their role competently.

And I think this is something I had raised a while ago, the idea that Trump is going to make ICE into his own Secret Police with an executive order. Again, sounds crazy, but ICE murdered two US Civilians and the Admin were calling the murdered victims domestic terrorists, and only on site videos saved the honor of those killed by the Trump Admin.

Trump might not make his own secret police, but incorporating and expanding the scope and reach of ICE could easily have some nefarious down the road planning.

Trump to put up Columbus statue. Asking Italians to think about that when voting. No, I didn't make this up.

Trump campaigned in 2024 on promises to celebrate Columbus Day, and in October he signed a presidential proclamation to recognize Columbus as “the original American hero” and mark the annual holiday.

“We’re back, Italians. Okay? We love the Italians,” Trump said after signing the proclamation. He later said the move should help the Republican Party in the upcoming midterm elections.

“The Italian people are very happy about it. Remember when you go to the voting booths, I reinstated Columbus Day,” Trump told reporters at the White House last month.
