Made in America
True conversation between a 6 year old and her Mom (one of my son's friends at school):
"Tomorrow at school we have a lock-down drill, you know in case there is a coyote or a wild animal or something we will know what to do. If you're in the bathroom when it happens you go back in the stall and close the door and put your feet up, and if you're in the hallway when it happens you try to run into the closest classroom, but if it's locked you run back into the bathroom, and if the coyote is chasing you, you just run away from it as fast as you can and hide."
I'm not sure how to feel about that. On the one hand I'm glad they are being prepared. On the other hand, if a wild animal did get into the school, the best response would probably be to open a door or window and let it escape.
Regardless, here we are - America!! Home of the 'Lock Down Drill'

Why do they need a coyote if they're already in the US?
...just wondering.
Presumably no one wants to tell a bunch of 6-year-olds "Here's what you doifwhen some lunatic comes in and starts shooting up the place".

Yeah, that's certainly their thought. I disagree with it though. Guess I'm saying that if lunatics with guns are getting into schools and shooting up the place, the kids would be better served by being instructed what to do if a lunatic comes in and starts shooting up the place.
(My previous post refers to "coyotes" as in human smugglers)
