Anybody else Looking Forward to the Game if Thrones Season 7 Premiere?

Curious why Pike's navy can't fly as well. And how no one knew the Tyrell's would be invaded. Mr. "I have lots of birds" couldn't get wind of the first navy loss, the uber navy heading to the other castle, and then army marching on the Tyrell's?!

The story telling is getting very weak and starting to involve too much plot device. About the only stuff that make sense is the Targerian and Stark relationship.

Well Quyburn id have that interlude with the "birds" that Cersei looked into right? Just thinking maybe his birds are no longer loyal and either fed him misinformation or stopped whispering to him.

I do agree the Tyrells fell far too quick and it now seems rushed but they cut up the amount of what they could work with by shortening the seasons and we're seeing the damaged results.

Not AS bad as I thought it would be 3 episodes in and cuz I'm a stickler for finishing something once I've started, but if they fuck up more of the story since they have no main source material its gonna be prolly be as rushed and disappointing an end as last season was.

Altho, seeing the awfully acted sand snake arc finally, at least nearly, end is kinda satisfying. n considering from what I understand of the books regarding Reek/Theon, it made sense to see him abandon his post. I thin so much destruction so quickly for Dany's side is far too neat and quick so more an obvious plot tweaker than good story . . .

Meh, I can't say it is surprising given everyone knew they were gonna shorten shit up and rush things to an end more than look at story an character arcs rom now till the end. It was a good start, brilliant first season but I'm leaning towards being glad it will end soon, which is also sad.

I agree--I wish they were ending it this season, though maybe, one hopes, they're getting some things out of the way quickly--bye bye Queen C? --to focus on a protracted struggle against the ice zombies and the Long Winter.

More likely this season will focus primarilly on the war for the iron throne with a final season for all the events after. Honestly I think it's all coming together quite nicely. The build up and 'anything can happen' approach is paying dividends for me, I really feel the tension when the dragon is up against that giant skorpion thing.

I suspect everything will happen at once; for the simple reason that if this season is the last with the actual 'Game of Thrones' and next is 'War with Ice Zombies' I suspect viewership will suffer.

How much army is left for Cersei? An army was turned into a S'mores in the last episode. Can she actually defend the city now?

And more importantly, they don't have the gold any more, so the Iron Bank isn't going to be happy. Cersei may do something stupid with the bank rep. They might just be able to walk right into the city and take over.

They do still have the gold. That scene began with them saying the gold is already back in the city, but the army is getting too stretched out. They commented on getting the troops motivated to catch up to the rest of the force. Only a portion of it got toasted, but hopefully some got away to spread the word. Then they might have a problem with desertions.

Actually, before the battle you hear Lord Tarley tell Jaime that all the gold is inside King's Landing. I think only the food was burned. Presumably, a lot of the army was also already in the city, and the battle involved the tail-end of the marching army.

In the city or on its way back, but "secure"? Because the Iron Bank was still awaiting payment.

In the book Tyrion discovers tunnels during his escape. They take him behind the guest/main bedrooms of the castle. From the fireplaces he can hear people talking clearly. His comment is "Little birds indeed."

The words were something like "Secure inside the city gates", so yeah, the implication is that they have the gold. Now, of course, they can't get the gold out of the city and to the bank anyway...

Well only the tale end of the army was crushed, the real loss would be Jamie. But Cersi has been through his capture before. The Dotraki probably wouldn't be able to defeat heavy armour without the help of the dragons, and she won't be attacking Kings Landing soon. Looks like a stalemate, perfect for winter to set in...

I'm kind of okay with the pacing so far. I mean I know the runners are rushing and that the Targerian/Stark interlude is going to be so quick to start and finish it'll kind of suck, but they are paying a good amount of timer per main character here that each episode so far is long enough for at least that. The majors battle could have been longer yes, but each of them still allowed for the fans who enjoy the violence gore to get a little fix of it before taking things to a different setting, camera work was generally well done too.

I don't like how rushed the exchanges are for Dany, John and Sansa and Arya but they had to shorten things as I new they would and it seems those developing relations, or re-developing I the case of the re-united Stark relations are the things that are suffering this season.

Each season has its drawbacks and each its strengths. I'm actually looking forward to each episode now though, since enough of the storyline has progressed and I see they're winding things down much the way I thought they would. Just as long as Tyrion and Bron make it and they don't cheapen Dany's character by having her go mad during it all I'm cool with it to the end.

The major issues are how the battles with the Others/wights/white walkers are going to fill out the remaining season.

Oh, ad I wonder how they're going to off Cersei, and potentially Jaime. It'd better not suck in terms of how. -_- Just saying.

So, my personal theory is that Jamie kills Cersei. You get this much more in the books, but Cersei's life has gone pretty much exactly how Maggy the Frog prophesized it, and according to her prophecy:

Cersei: Will the king and I have children?
Maggy: Oh, aye. Six-and-ten for him, and three for you. Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds, she said. And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.

And valonqar is High Valyrian for "little brother". Cersei has always assumed that meant Tyrion, but I think it will turn out to be Jaime, where he will be recapitulating his role as King-Slayer.

Just my guess.

I thought that at first, but he is now technically one-handed. It would be fitting for them to life together as they came into the world together. Like a murder-suicide pact or something. That'd be good. I just don't want it to be some quick thing, even if were this a real story it could very well be quick and by someone entirely random as well.

I also wouldn't want anymore Starks bumped off, but then I don't write for the show either more's the pity. I'd have played the Dire-wolf connections and the powers of some of the characters and beings up more.

In the books, I recall it's not just Bran who shows warg tendencies, but John and Arya as well. Of course, Bran is much more than a warg.

I'm aware just as I understand they had to make certain choices regarding the look of the dire wolves in the show. I just don't see how the artists and techs could not have given them that look and a bit more screen time with Arya and John, just a bit here and there and we'd have had enough to realize it wasn't just Bran. Then we wouldn't need the rest of them really.

Although they did get in a bit of the foresight dreaming for more than Bran, with Rickon seeing his father in the crypt just before they learned he'd been executed.

Meh, I still like it, which is difficult for artists/producers to do for me after so many years of material done and not much left to go through in a way given that they had to go beyond the books or lose interest/their time slot trying to wait for more.

I am irritated at the original work and JRRM more I think for how much the show as different as it is to the books seems more appealing. His voice and the tone and the word usage from what I've seen of the snippets to the latest book are horrendous so I'm glad the show went at it all quite differently. It makes the scenes easier to watch versus if they had stayed closer to the source material.

I hear they tried that with the unaired pilot but they never released it and I wish they would for comparison.

The most fitting ending for Cersei is defenestration at the hand of Jamie. He will push her out a window, while re-quoting "The things I do for love." After all, he pushed Brandon out a window which started it all. And their son Tommen jumped out a window. So out she goes. He may jump too . . . that is my prediction. And desire.

My trouble isn't the events, but how quickly armies are moving about. That and the super flying navy.

the prophesy doesn't say who's little brother. Maybe it will be Dolorous Edd. A small man, and a brother of the Night's watch.

Or maybe the Hound.

"All the gold is safely through the gates of King's Landing."

I figure that the gold doesn't need to be physically transported to Bravos. It's enough to hand it over to Iron Bank representatives in King's Landing and they can ship it from there, or keep it in vaults, or loan it back to Cersei.
