Everywhere you look, trumpo is breaking the law....

Two attorneys general have asked Donald Trump for any of his correspondence with government officials regarding his hotel in Washington DC.
The district’s Attorney General Karl Racine and Maryland’s Brian Frosh made the request to the US District Court in Maryland.
It was part of a civil suit against the president, alleging he violated the emoluments clause of the US Constitution and is benefiting from foreign governments without Congress’ permission. The Foreign Emoluments Clause of the Constitution bars federal officials from accepting gifts or rewards from foreign government officials; the Domestic Emoluments Clause says the president cannot accept benefits from state governments.
The hotel is just a stone’s throw from the White House and several visiting dignitaries and state officials appear to have stayed at the hotel as paying guests.
Mr Trump’s legal team has attempted to stop the case, but the judge, Peter Messitte, ruled in July 2018 that it can go forward.
Accusatory words projected on Trump DC hotelThis is the first case involving the emoluments clauses to ever go to trial.

It's about damned time. The emoluments clause has been mentioned since it looked like the trumpster fire was going to win the GOP nomination, and every one with power was just ignoring it and hoping we'd forget about it.

You can't blame them for thinking everyone would forget about it. Imagine if YOU go out and kidnap a couple thousand children, conspire with the Russian government to destroy American democracy, cause a couple thousand needless American deaths via negligence, hire a pack of criminals as your staff and tell more than 5000 public lies within a couple of years... When you are finally called to account, your dubious means of making a few (million) extra bucks isn't going to raise many eyebrows.

This is highly complicated as it has never been tested before. SCOTUS would have to rule on it... if the case gets far enough... and Trump is still President.

And that will be a waste of time if Komrade Kavanaugh is on the bench.
