A black hotel clerk had to call police to help eject a drunk and unruly guest who refused to leave the premises.

Half an hour later that same man returned and rushed behind the counter to assault the clerk. That clerk, Raymond Rachal, managed to get the upper hand in the unarmed skirmish and called 911 while pinning the assailant to the ground.

Cops showed up, aggressively shoved the victim of a premeditated assault around, and arrested him. The assailant was given a ride to a friend's house.

Is there a point to the OP?

These situations have become routine in Seattle black, white, or brown. Business calls police, police take someone away. person is released on own recognizance, person returns to store.

Unless you are in imedite danger of physcal harm it s unwise to physcally force smeone.

A homeless pesron got into our building and our maintenance guy confronted him , and got seriously beaten.

Black, white, or brown if yiu give police trouble you do so at yiur own risk.

So Steve bank’s idea is to let drunk and obnoxious people do whatever they want in a place of business?

Or just let the police deal with every obnoxious drunk at a bar or hotel?

I’m not sure who he thinks was giving the police trouble here? The drunk or the guy attempting to do his job…

How many times does the person return, assaults the store owner and then the store owner is arrested and the assaulter is driven home?

To at least read the OP, if not the article.

The worker, who was assaulted behind the counter... was arrested.

The assaulter was given a ride home.

You can't be angry when you're brown, even when you have good reason to be angry. The Employee should have kept calm and not expressed any displeasure. It's his own fault for not letting himself be assaulted.

What does the hotel management have to say about that?

The police-brutality apologists here?

I think that the cops had a knee-jerk evaluation of who the villain was here.

I do not understand how such a situation is even possible?

The police arrive, find the worker holding the attacker and mistake who is who--and don't take the time to figure out what's going on. This is an inherent problem whenever you're detaining someone.

Only if you don't ask questions.
