I don't see what he sees in Donald Trump. I'd expect him to endorse Ted Cruz, but Trump? Ted Cruz is a fellow scriptural percussionist, while Donald Trump is pretending to be one.

Rubio is every bit the religious fanatic Cruz is and more. He has simply learned that to be more open about it creeps many voters out. He attends mass every day for example.

Maybe Trump promised him money and power. I mean I think it's more what does Trump see in Carson...someone who can court evangelicals and get them excited to vote. He's got a little bit different set of people than Trump and both are motivating their bases. So together they've got a significant number of people in the polls.

It came out today that Trump has Carson as his education policy expert. Maybe he promised him a Sec of Ed. if he wins.

Seems obvious to me. Carson strikes me as particularly gullible and mild mannered. Trump is a con man and a bully. A natural pair.

That's good except he also promised to eliminate the Department of Education.
Some are saying he'll be Trump's running mate, which is possible. The conventional wisdom for a Veep choice is someone who does not alienate the base and brings in votes from outside the base. Carson may fit this bill.
After the convention, Trump will have to move to the middle on abortion and gay rights. This will upset the religious right, and Carson's job will be to stand beside the preachers and tell them Trump doesn't really mean what he's saying.

I think appointing Carson to be Sec of Ed and then eliminating the Dept of Ed is a more funny story to go with. I guess we will have to see what happens.

I would have been more surprised if Carson had endorsed Cruz, after the "dirty tricks" row (e.g., http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ud-cruz-over-dirty-tricks-continues/79750036/ , http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...a-closet-about-dirty-tricks-it-didnt-go-well/ ).
