I watched the townhall meeting with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow and Sanders. Clinton and O'Malley

I thought Sanders did very well. He was charming, likeable, and very witty with a quick, self depreciating wit.
Hardly the cranky person some claim he is. Maddow was a joy also. Hard questions without the hard edged tone we have seen in the debates from moderators. Bernie was warm and human and did not seem doctrinaire. Hilary was good also. Rachel Maddow was charming without being fawning.

Did anybody else view this?

How come Hillary wouldn't answer the lovely Rachel Maddow's hypothetical question about picking a republican VP?

It wasn't really the very charming Rachel Maddow's question. It came from an audience member.
And Hilary sort of answered, none of the current GOP candidates would do.

Why couldn't she answer? Aren't y'all wanting to work together in a national crisis?

Republicans don't work with others.

They refused to work with Obama on anything for his entire presidency. Everything done has been done in spite of the do nothing Republican party.

None of the current GOP candidates would do. It is really quite simple, Alias. I take it you are a Carson man? That means little hope for you.

I'm an issues man. What's Hillary and Bernie going to do to get people off welfare, government food, taxpayer subsidized healthcare, and lesson the burden on the taxpayers?

Everytime the Republicans run everything, they do poorly. Bush left our economy a smoking crater, with unemployment at 10% and doubled our national debt. From a national debt of $8.07 trillion to $11.929 trillion. Bush 41 was a bust, Reagan almost tripled the national debt and his regime started off with a recession and left as we descended into a recession, Nixon/Ford left us in meltdown mode. Why would I vote for any of the GOP kooks running with their economic idiot boy plans so far offered to us? Carson's poorly thought out flat tax, Cruz - shut down the IRS and repeal "Obamacare?" Trump? Christie whose plans have left New Jersey in debt?
The record shows tha the GOP couldn't run a Quickie-mart, much less a national economy. Issues. We have your issues right here!

Your issues are non issues. You get people off of welfare when you provide enough jobs so people can earn their way. Your assessment of real problems we face is completely lacking substance. All of my life I have paid taxes and subsidized health care and felt I was an integral part of making my country work for all its people. If you are some kind of hermit, you may not like having to participate in society and just be interested in hoarding money by any means you can. This does not make you moral or in any way capable of sound reasoning regarding society as a whole.

Yep. There it is. Alias, why is it so important to get people from leaning on social services? For all the ills in society, are these your top concerns?
I'm all for people standing on their own two feet. Especially the US, which provides the best opportunity to do just that. But I also realize there are those who cannot. For whatever reason, be it physical, intellectual, or psychological, there are those that just cannot do for themselves. I accept this. As a human being and member of this society, I have no problem helping these people.
I've met these people. I've conversed with them. As a 23 veteran of the navy, I've lived with them. Every socioeconomic group in the US crammed together in floating cities. A person cannot help but learn about others advantages and limitations and come to appreciate their own.
I've been a civilian for seven years now. I've no friends and no family (save for my mom) I care to converse with. They are narrow-minded individuals who have lived and will die in their little socioeconomic groups. They nauseate me. People unwilling to help their fellow human beings, are content to see them suffer and say it's their own damn fault nauseate me.

The fact you have to ask why it's important to get people off welfare is the problem. You're the problem.

I thought it was excellent. All three candidates did very well.

Too bad this thread has already been derailed. I would have enjoyed discussing the event.

Don't let the derails stop ypu. The thing I liked was the fact that Sanders was in fact, witty, thoughtful and very likable. His big problem is few Americans out of his part of America know much about him, and events like this demonstrate a likeability factor that would be a big help in his election effort.

Such a factor seems to be a big part of Ben carson's appeal to many conservatives.

Is there a replay available on the internet? I would like to watch it next time I'm near broadband. I do like the way the Democratic party events have been high on actual discussion and without any of the ridiculous cross talk.

I don't know but....

MSNBC will be live from the South Carolina Democratic Party’s “First in the South Democratic Candidates Forum” at Winthrop University on Friday, Nov. 6.
Coverage will begin at 6 p.m. ET with a special edition of “Hardball” hosted by Chris Matthews with Steve Kornacki live from Winthrop University.

The “First in the South Democratic Candidates Forum” will be moderated by Rachel Maddow and will air live on MSNBC beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Maddow will speak with Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, Martin O’Malley and Bernie Sanders separately on a variety of topics including the economy, policing in America, the state of the Democratic Party in the South and the 2016 campaign.

So I thought that I might fin it on MSNBC's site. However I can't seem to find it there. Just snippets of this.

I expect they will eventually have it on the MSNBC website. They have also done replays on the channel.

I thought the format was interesting - each candidate interviewed individually at length. I think that had a lot to do with showing Bernie's more humorous side.

I don't think I learned anything new about any of the candidates; maybe a few more details about their platforms.

Have to say that Rachel Maddow is by far my favorite news person.

Watch her MSNBC show online at MSNBC's website. She is a favorite political commentator here. At her best, nobody else comes close. She also has some truly fantastic fact checkers and researchers working for her.
