Actually, many evangelicals have, over time, come to rethink their blind belief. The first strident atheist I ever knew, way back when I was still a teenager (I worked with him and he was in his thirties), told me he had been an evangelical. He had wanted to preach the "good news" so enrolled in a seminary. The Bible was their primary text book and after seriously studying it as an academic endeavor he came to the conclusion that it was all a fairy tale so dropped out of the seminary. I think that he was so strident in his atheism because he felt that he had been lied to, manipulated, and used by his church.

To be fair, many atheist, over time, have become believers too. People of all persuasions do change their world view sometimes.

I can read the words of Harry Potter but I don't believe that person has ever existed. You want me to believe your god exists - it is going to take more than words in a book you claim he wrote.
