Black Jeopardy: SNL gets it SOOOOO right.

... only Doug the Trump supporter is insightful enough to realize that the question of which lives matter isn't simply "Black"...

False.

then we get into an argument about which side believes what. Is the argument that Trump supporters only believe white lives matter while all blacks believe that all lives matter?

We communicate using labels because there is no other way, because that's what words are, labels. Some folks however, for whatever reason, also think in labels. My brain never seems to stop thinking but it never says a word if you know what I mean. It seems to understand that a label doesn't tell you want is inside something.

Anything can be labeled anything but it doesn't change anything, except for those people who think in labels. For them it changes everything.

Hmm, well, you know what they say about comedy: It's not funny if you have to explain.

But threads are not very productive if no one can/will explain.

Did your google break?

I have explained BLM on these boards
Many others have explain BLM on these boards
At this point, this isn't about what anything means, we all know what it means. It is just that some people don't like the definition and won't accept it, so repeating it does nothing.

So as dismal said. Trump supports: all lives matter Blacks: Only black lives matter.

If Trump or his supporters truely believed all lives matter, they would be doing some things differently.

They wouldn't be saying to execute the families of terrorists. Because their lives matter.

They wouldn't be saying to deport people to a home that doesn't exist in a country full of rampant crime and corruption because all lives matter.

They wouldn't be defending police who shoot 'bad' black people without any proof that the black people they shot actually did anything. Because all lives matter.

Their policies speak far more authoritatively than their words.

That's a lot of complicated explanation about whose lives matter. You're like the Trump guy I guess.

Six sentences is "a lot of complicated explanation"?

Trump can't even get a single sentence out of his mouth without interrupting himself, Jarhyn made a very cogent post in his six sentences.

Then what is it?

The topic was lives matter. But that's isn't the focus. I guess naming the group, "Cops shouldn't shoot black people" doesn't have a good ring.

In terms of how we judge lives, nobody has the same belief for everyone. We are common that we have a belief in certain things for our close family, followed by larger and larger groups that we care less about.

I think we all know that all lives don't matter. But telling ourselves the opposite is comforting. We'd be better off saying all lives should matter. At least then we'd be living with reality and not being hypocrites.

Compared to a single word, yes.

Is that you Doug?

Athena, this is your fault for asking for critical thought from those without any capacity for it.

The final jeopardy question should have been "Do Black Lives Matter?"

If you believe the answer to that question is yes, then congratulations you are a BLM supporter. Now all you have to do is act like you believe it.

Unfortunately, you missed the thrust of his post, which was that while some people will say that word is "all", they are clearly not using that word to mean "everyone". Those six sentences provided some examples of people who they would not include in the word "all".

I know. I have been bad. No dessert got me. :(

Michael Moore had an interesting comment in relation to this skit on CNN while talking about his latest film.

His thesis was that one of the main reasons behind the Trumpism and the anger which fuels it is that, in many places around the US, white males are learning what it's like to be a disaffected minority who have the system rigged against them while the people in power ignore them, insult them and use their positions of authority to work against their best interests and they see little or no reason to assume that their prospects will change anytime soon. Then they find that being in that type of situation kind of sucks.

That makes them have traits and attitudes which are ... well ... kind of similar to everyone else on the planet who's not them.

Wait you took away from that that those people's lives suck?

Well, I suppose that one skinny chick who applauds when everyone agrees skinny chicks are not good for anything has some issues.
