Black Jeopardy: SNL gets it SOOOOO right.

Michael Moore had an interesting comment in relation to this skit on CNN while talking about his latest film.

His thesis was that one of the main reasons behind the Trumpism and the anger which fuels it is that, in many places around the US, white males are learning what it's like to be a disaffected minority who have the system rigged against them while the people in power ignore them, insult them and use their positions of authority to work against their best interests and they see little or no reason to assume that their prospects will change anytime soon. Then they find that being in that type of situation kind of sucks.

That makes them have traits and attitudes which are ... well ... kind of similar to everyone else on the planet who's not them.

Wait you took away from that that those people's lives suck?

Well, I suppose that one skinny chick who applauds when everyone agrees skinny chicks are not good for anything has some issues.

No, I was talking about a Michael Moore interview. That's why I began my post by saying that I was talking about a Michael Moore interview. I apologize if explicitly stating things makes it difficult for you to comprehend them. That was my fault.

Compared to a single word, yes.

Way to redefine words to make them meaningless when you're losing an argument. You go!

Tip: This is a discussion about a skit in which Doug the Trump supporter's relationship with the previously friendly Black people with whom he had been bonding turns for saying he has "a lot to say" about the final Jeopardy answer "lives that matter".

The final jeopardy question should have been "Do Black Lives Matter?"
Well, if you know anything at all about Jeopardy, you'd know that it could not have been. :)
If you believe the answer to that question is yes, then congratulations you are a BLM supporter.
Wrong. #BLM as a movement is not simply acknowledgment that black people matter like everybody else. No, it is a radical movement that at it's core
- wrongly believes that there is iopen season on blacks by whites and/or police. I have heard #BLM supporters say that they are afraid to go out (or let their kids out) out of fear that they'd be shot by police. Note that black people are much more likely to be killed by other blacks than by police and that you are much more likely to be shot by police if you are a criminal in some sort of altercation with police. Also, black people commit murder at a rate 5x as big as whites, and blacks are twice as likely to kill whites than whites are likely to kill blacks.
- raise black criminals whose shootings were justified into cause celebres. See Michael Brown (#BLM's coming out party), Jamar Clark, Freddie Grey, Mario Woods, Carnell Snell, Keith Scott etc.
- engage in disruptive and illegal tactics like blocking highways, city council meetings, shopping malls, etc. In Minneapolis #BLM camped out in front of the police precinct blocking the front doors for weeks. Some even engage in rioting, looting and arson. #BLM leaders like DeRay McKesson defend such illegal tactics ("In defense of looting" was a talk given by DeRay at Yale for example).
- police shootings of white people are largely ignored.

I guess naming the group, "Cops shouldn't shoot black people" doesn't have a good ring.

That name would be wrong as well. Most police shootings are justified regardless of race. Why should police not be able to shoot certain people (even when necessary) just because of their skin color?

Derec, you are gonna pop a vessel if your aren't careful.

They wouldn't be saying to deport people to a home that doesn't exist in a country full of rampant crime and corruption because all lives matter.
The illegals broke the law by coming here. Why should they not be deported?
They wouldn't be defending police who shoot 'bad' black people without any proof that the black people they shot actually did anything. Because all lives matter.
Every police shooting should be investigated. And lo and behold, in most cases there is plenty of evidence the bad guy (regardless of race) did something wrong that justified the shooting.

... only Doug the Trump supporter is insightful enough to realize that the question of which lives matter isn't simply "Black"...

False.

An argument is not just contradiction. Now if you and/or laughing dog would go ahead and explain what you think the point of the "Final Jeopardy" part was, that'd be great.

The problem is that no one really believes all lives matter equally. It is a lie they tell themselves to make themselves feel better, or to signal their virtue to others.

-The lives of criminals are of lesser concern to people than non-criminals
-The lives of adults victimized by others are of lesser concern than children victimized by others
-The lives of one's neighbors and community are of greater concern than those outside it, and those outside ones own nation even less concern than those
-The lives of people dying from health related problems are of less concern than those dying from murder
-Etc.

An argument is not just contradiction.

An argument isn't just assertions about BLM and/or black people and/or Black Jeopardy by you or dismal.

It is not my responsibility to prove you or dismal's arguments. It is also not laughing dog's.

Even so, it remains a PAINSTAKINGLY obvious point that Black Lives Matter does not mean non-black lives don't matter.

In logic:
(Black Lives ==> Matter) =/=> (not Black Lives ==> not Matter)

That is such an obvious fallacy that it is obvious you are pretending that is a conclusion.

So this is the right way to stereotype Black people?
Ahhhhhhhh....

One of the essential parts of satire is that portion of the audience who doesn't 'get' the humor.
Usually, we're forced to imagine people who don't get it. Like, can you imagine if someone saw the SNL presidential debate and thought it was real? We laugh at the imaginary audience who failed to laugh, or laughed at the wrong parts.

And that's what I said earlier

We have several options

Blacks Trump
all lives matter all lives matter
blacks matter whites matter
all lives matter whites matter
blacks matter all lives matter

So this is the right way to stereotype Black people?

We make fun of stereotypes all the time. Some are just funny and acceptable. I'm not sure they wanted to touch the welfare queen stereotype on the show though. That would have riled them up.

So, are you saying there weren't stereotypes of black people in there?

Or that stereotyping black people as hoarding condiment packets or blowing their 401k money on scratch-offs is fine/funny because _______.

OH GOD! You not only don't get the bit, you REALLY don't get it.
Normally I just think you are being obtuse to make some assinine pointless point.

But you REALLY don't get it.

Wow, just ... wow

What don't I get? Why those stereotypes of Black people were fine/funny? Yes, I don't get that. That's why I have asked on multiple occasions.

I also don't get why no one seems capable of answering if indeed I'm the only one who doesn't get it.

Welcome to The Regressive The Left. For your first assignment, you will have to sign up at Yale for a class in African American studies. You will have to write papers on how SNL has made you emotionally distraught by using black stereotypes. Though I am giving you this assignment, you will actually be reporting directly to Hillary Clinton, Her Furher. I hope to hear from you again on your enlightened opinions. Well done, comrade!

I'm going to score that as another non-answer.
