Yeah, check this out. Boris Johnson reacted criminally slow in the typical right-wing fascist manner to Covid-19. This cost the UK lots of lives, as he followed the fascist playbook of the US, Brazil, India in order to pretend nothing was wrong... and only acting too late.

But that isn't the problem. The problem that his party wants him to resign for is attending a Drink party during the lockdown, the night before a royal funeral.

JFC!

So what if the party is right for the wrong reasons? In politics, the ends justify the means.

Conservative politics in the UK and the US have one trait in common. They value the power of office far above any of the cardinal virtues. A conservative officeholder will have the support of his party, no matter what lies and cheats are revealed, just so long as the office can be held. The office holder will lose that support, only after it's obvious the office is lost anyway.

The quitting quitter finally quit again, because of another darn witch hunt. They're making a big comeback.

I thought "right wing" in the UK was basically "left wing" in the US.

In terms of economic and social policy, yes.

In terms of political tactics and strategy, no.

The main difference in US and UK right wing politics is the US right wing are Putinite sycophants.

Yeah, early 20th century isolationist worldview that benefits a specific world player, where the people who are leading with this alt-right populist agenda are typically charismatic and incompetent.

Another witch hunt snares another former leader.

Hardly a witch hunt; Clearly the SNP as an organisation has a number of questions to answer about where the money went, but Scottish law is rather unusual in the way it manages prosecutions - suspects are frequently arrested in order that the office of the Procurator Fiscal can begin investigating whether or not a prosecution is warranted.

For a person who is under suspicion to be arrested and then released after only a few hours is fairly typical in Scotland, and may or may not imply that the police or PF believe that that individual is likely to have committed a crime.

That the arrest and release occurred on a Sunday, apparently at the suspect's request, suggests that the police are being as accommodating as possible, to minimise any accusations of harsh treatment should the suspect subsequently be completely exonerated.

The equivalence in USA law to that Scottish law is called custodial interrogation.

Boris gets a new gig as a Daily Mail columnist;

It was the front page tease that got the whole of Britain talking. Who could the ‘erudite new columnist’ announced on the cover of today’s Daily Mail possibly be? Of course, many guessed right and now we are delighted to confirm his identity… former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, famed as one of the wittiest and most original writers in the business.

Yes, for some strange reasons, in UK they all (including Royal Family members) have a thing for Hitler.
