Brad Schimel, the Republican candidate for Attorney General, told supporters at a Milwaukee County Republicans party that he’s tired of the contentious statewide debate over the minimum wage.
“I want every one of our neighbors to have a job again, a well-paid job, so we don’t have to argue about minimum wage for someone working at Burger King,” he said. “Let’s get them a real job.”

..then who would flip the burgers.

I thought McDonalds was the fast food demon of the world. So now they're picking on Burger King?

Please don't tell me they're going to go after someone other than Walmart!

The enemy of people of the right and the left is the corporate system.

It is destroying the planet and keeping the pay of workers as low as possible.

But it is the corporate system not a demon. It does these things with a smiling face.

They aren't going after Burger King, only those peons that do 99% of the work who aren't a real part of the company. Being a Burger King owner is a "real job", because it means your keeping most of the wealth created by all those peons' labor for yourself.

And yes, I too saw the pic and thought, that looks better then Burger King food. I worked there for 6 months at age 17 after being fired from McDonalds for eating some of the 20 lbs of food that they throw out every hour. "Fast" food requires low quality, because it requires that it be already be made, which requires throwing much of it out before its sold, which requires using the lowest quality ingredients in order to reduce the cost of such massive waste.

At franchises of McDonald's and Burger King and other fast food restaurants famous for minimum wage jobs, are you as a franchise owner allowed to pay employees more, or are wages fixed centrally, and forced on you through the franchise agreement? Who is the bad guy here? The Franchise owner or the corporate CEO?

Wages are not fixed centrally. Local establishments can offer more if they need to attract workers.

I remember when Democrats used to talk about McJobs like they were a bad thing. It's good to see they've come around to the position McJobs are so glorious no one should ever want to leave one. It's more consistent with their economic policies.

tbf though republican policies have put us in the place where a McJob is the only job a lot of people can get.

If you can get the republicans to back off their anti-worker policies I'll see about getting the democrats to start hating McJobs again.

and I can remember when Republicans actually had something worthwhile to say.

Often these low pay service jobs are the only jobs left in a region. You now have middle age and older workers with college and post graduate degrees working there; workers who used to have solid, middle-class jobs -- sent overseas by Republican backed policies or wiped out by corporate consolidation.
Now these Republicans blame the victims of their own policies.

You'd almost think corporate America didn't want a 'troublesome' middle class; that it preferred a large pool of needy, compliant, apolitical workers.

You mean like "hey we just won the Senate"?

What exactly is worthwhile about winning the Senate?

These days, it's less useful than the Canadian Senate and that's just something used to give the Prime Minister's golf buddies some extra retirement income without their needing to work.
