Can the rest of the world deal with ISIS if the US stays out?

...Or perhaps British and American foreign policy in the region.

Can you give any UK actions in the last two decades that would fit that description? I'm just curious as to what you're referring to?

Invasion of Iraq. Really a US-British operation with a few stragglers for show.

A massive act of terrorism.

It's like that song, steal a little they throw you in jail, steal a lot they make you king.

Little acts of terrorism are done by animals for despicable reasons.

Massive acts of terrorism are done by the civilized people of the world for noble reasons.

Why would ISIS be a threat to Saudi Arabia? Thought they were more or less on the same side.

Granted that both the UK and the US invaded. However, the reasons were very different. In the UK the invasion was justified as supporting the US, was hugely unpopular, both before and after, and eventually brought down the ruling prime minister. What we don't have is UK terrorism, with US in a supporting role.

It's worth bearing in mind that we don't have two powers trying to terrorise, sorry, shock and awe, the Middle East. We have one, and their ally who goes along with their plans so they don't feel lonely.

ISIS sees itself as the new caliphate, and thus it must seize territory, hold it and expand, or it's not a true caliphate. The grisly propaganda they put out is designed to help in that regard. If you are the caliphate then all other nation states will eventually bow to you and practice Islam your way. Many of the countries in that area have fostered extremist Islamic ideology and now it has reared it's ugly head and they want help dealing with it. They need to come together and deal with the problem, and the West has to make a concentrated effort to wean itself off of oil and on to renewable resources of energy so we can stay out of the region.

Still, expecting KSA to get tough on ISIS is like asking Chris Christie to make sure your children are going to finish their vegetables and get enough exercise.

Look at how Turkey, much more moderate country than Saudi Arabia, and their contribution to the fight against ISIS was to bomb the Kurds.

The Turks always like to bomb the Kurds. Any time that the rest of the world is distracted enough that they think they can get away with it, they bomb the Kurds.
