Chronicles in Socialism - Venezuela has Elections Sunday

It is a picture of an Arab person. It's a picture of the number-one Arab person Derec called a thug, placed for comparison purposes next to a picture of the northern-European-American person that people have been commenting for years on how much the thug looks like. Anybody who calls the guy on the left "brown" and the guy on the right "white" is evidently not doing so based on color vision.

Race is a social construct.

So your theory is that Mashal is a vitiligo sufferer?

Nah, my theory is that it's dumb to have this little pedantical argument about who can and who can not be considered a "brown person" and I'm the bigger dummy for falling for it.

Race is a social construct.
Obviously, because only that makes this possible:

This is a reference to George Zimmerman being referred to as white in media (also on here, he was even said to look like former German football captain Michael Ballack) while Elizabeth Warren claimed Amerindian ancestry in order to get a job at Harvard.

More Hollywood vs. terrorist leader lookalikes.

So many movie opportunities wasted ...
Also the one on the right is definitely not white because ... well because we say so ... and Jesus was black. Or something.

The one on the right is persian not arab.

I believe persians are generally acknowledged as being "white".

Zimmerman is half-Hispanic and half White--a social construction defined by society: referring to "race," i.e. his mother came from a Spanish speaking country and his father was White, but at the same time, his mother also had some European ancestry and non-European ancestry. Since it's a social construct it doesn't have to make complete sense or be 100% rational. So we can alternatively just call Zimmerman Hispanic, just like we can call Obama black even though his mother was White.

Speaking of shades, the 1942 US draft registration listed skin complexion choices as the following:
  • Sallow
  • Light
  • Ruddy
  • Dark
  • Freckled
  • Light Brown
  • Dark Brown
  • Black

Races, it listed as
  • White
  • Negro
  • Oriental
  • Indian
  • Filipino

Well, it certainly is when you need it to be one in order to rescue a losing argument by socially constructing your opponent as a racist.

Back on the topic of the election, Maduro now claims fraud, and the Supreme Court is <url=http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/southamerica/venezuela/12074305/Venezuelan-president-claims-voting-fraud-occurred-in-recent-elections.html>considering his objections to the election of 8 lawmakers.</url>
Given that the SC seems mostly under his control (i.e., most members at least), it seems likely that the MUD will not have a 2/3 majority after all, even though they'll at least have over 3/5, which is something but is nowhere nears as much in terms of power.

From your link:
"I am not going to release preliminary results of the investigation ... There were a lot of things going on. Buying people's votes ... control of members of polling station teams and entire polling station teams," Maduro said on his weekly television show.

That's probably not worse than taking toilet paper to artificially create scarcity.

Sounds like PSUV tactics.

You mean shortages created by economically illiterate price and currency control policies.
