Chaffetz: “You don’t get to decide what I get to see. I get to see it all. I was elected by some 800,000 people to come to Congress and see classified information. I was elected by my colleagues here to be the chairman of this committee. That’s the way our Constitution works. Will the FBI provide to Congress the full file with no redactions of personal identifiable information?”

Herring: “I cannot make that commitment sitting here today.”

Chaffetz: “Then I’m going to issue a subpoena

Unless its a matter of national security or the safety of an individual (but not knowing the details) there should not normally be secrecy in the daily running of suc government agencies.

A Republican ideologue playing to the fantasies of his loonisphere base is news?

Investigators often get information that should be kept private.

The closest to being the subject of an investigation that I've ever been in was applying for a green card for my wife.

There's plenty of financial data in our file--things like unredacted bank account numbers etc. A black hat could have done various nasty things with the info there. (It's now effectively moot, all that is still valid is our birth certificates and marriage license.)

Do you think the FBI should be able to hide things because one person (Comey in this case) thinks they should be hidden? Without any oversight?

That seems looney to me, but maybe you can explain yourself?

The Republican loonisphere base of Chaffetz are rabid Clinton haters, ready to believe anything about Clinton. Chaffetz is playing to them. This has nothing to do with the FBI hiding anything. Besides playing up his bona fides with lunatics, this is an attempt to help Trump get elected by discrediting Clinton.

As to the FBI hiding things because one person thinks it is a good idea - they do it all the time for good reasons. One reason is to hide the names of informants. Another is that sometimes they receive information because they promise to hide it.

This story is only "news" to kneejerk HRC haters.
