But the "Americans made a mistake by voting for Obama" idea has been in play since...oh...about this time in 2009 at least.
The last six years of Republican rhetoric has been flavored by an undercurrent of "we told you so," except that now (as the unemployment rate dips and gas prices plummet) it has taken on more of a "you'd be doing so much better if" vibe.

In a technical sense, John Adams ran unsuccessfully for President in 1788-1789 (against George Washington) and subsequently was elected President himself.
Thomas Jefferson was beaten by John Adams in 1796 and ran again against Adams in 1800 and won.
Andrew Jackson lost to John Quincy Adams in 1824 (an election decided by the House of Representatives) and ran again against Adams in 1828 and won.
William Henry Harrison lost to Martin Van Buren in 1836 and beat him in 1840.
Grover Cleveland lost to Benjamin Harrison in 1888 and beat him in 1892, but Cleveland was the incumbent that Harrison beat in 1888 so perhaps that doesn't really count.
Nixon lost in 1960 and won in 1968 but did not run for the office in 1964.

And in part, he left a lot of Trickle On policies in place as part of his "third way" strategy. Most of that benefit went to the aristocrats at the top, and very little of it trickled on the rest of us. Obama and Clinton were both "Republican Lite" with regards to their economic policies, which in part is why America now has the greatest economic disparity between the aristocracy and everyone else since just before the Great Depression.

The delusion is with the American people (Romney is also one of them). The delusion is that we think we can trust this non-democratic "democracy" to meet the governance needs of our country. In all fairness to the American people, they are not deluded. They are mainly diverted and deserted. They stay away from the polls and in their isolation they turn to Fox News and see clowns like this:
This guy unabashedly detests poor people. The party that put him forward to be our president is the same party that controls the Senate, the House, and the Supreme Court. How did that happen? Can you see any way for it to stop happening? Romney was just out Romneyed by Obama....somewhat less crass in his public statements than Romney, but with an agenda of nearly equal toxicity. So Romney didn't get to be boss THAT JANUARY. Well, he and Jeb are back!

The affectations you see at political conventions are ridiculous. So often they are just a lot of hot air. Cowboy hats, flags, and all that stuff. How can we arrive at a rational system of governance when all who are allowed to govern get their licenses to run from carnivals?

I didn't actually watch the convention, so I don't know if Underseer's action was enough to silence that delegate.
