State senator wants road renamed after Creflo Dollar
Creflo Dollar is a prosperity preacher from College Park who was in the news a few years ago because he wanted to get his flock to fund a high-end private jet for himself.
Oh and by the way, the legislator proposing it, Donzella James, is a Democrat.

And here I thought Cynthia McKinney Parkway (named after my former congresswoman Jihad Cindy) was embarrassment enough.

He and his Prosperity Gospel are the slot machine that always comes up one click off the three Sevens. If you just keep sending in that seed money, your big payday is just that one click away.
I bet you get a better chance making it big in Las Vegas than from sending your money to the likes of him.

So stupid.

Disbelief was the reaction Johnson got from some people who live along Old National Highway as they said they'd rather see it dedicated to someone else. "Oh Lord have mercy, good God almighty, Lord no," one man told Johnson.

:D

If you're a Democrat and say a few crazy things you lose your next election.

If you're a Republican.

You run for president.

As a general rule, I am opposed to pretty much all renaming of anything to honor anyone.

Its an empty gesture not worth the tax dollars to make new signs.

Then your current congressman, Hank Johnson, is a little better but still an embarrassment. He is the one who expressed fear during a congressional hearing that landing marines on Guam could make the island capsize and sink.

Cyntha McKinney did run for president in 2008 on the Green Party ticket.

One of our more left-wing posters (can't remember who, could be even you for all I know) referred to her as "the other black person in the race" (or something to that effect) when he was talking about how he voted for her rather than Obama.

I know. It's tough living in Georgia. We have so many idiot politicians of both parties we could export them for cheap.

Why is this important enough to post here?

Well it's about politics and religion. Seemed to fit both PD and TF in general.

.
No. They become qualified for the Vice Presidency, e.g. Joe Biden

This exact instance that lacks any support and won't happen isn't important. But it raises the general issue about the idiocy and harmful costs of the general rampant practice of street and building renaming, and while we are at, moronic things like Presidential libraries.

BTW, the cost is more than signs, it is maps, official records, and it impacts businesses, etc..
There is no meaningful benefit that comes close to warranting to costs.

And you know that. ;)

Other than signs. I don't think that the rest have more than a minuscule cost. You don't suddenly throw out maps and brochures just for a name change.

Companies generally like people to be able to find them and not have their widely published address be a street that no longer exists. And signs alone can number in the many hundreds with costs in the many thousands for major roads
Countless needless "minuscule" costs is how governments wind up trillions in debt.

There is no positive to it, so any cost is wasteful. Those who feel otherwise can pay for all the cost themselves if it so "minuscule".
