CSPAN becomes Russia Today

Hacked. an "Internal Routing Issue" can be caused only by one thing... a network reconfiguration. Since the likelihood that any organization reconfigures their internal production network is nearly 0, this is 99% likely to be a result of unauthorized access by a threat agent.

To make an analogy, organizations change things all the time... it is like doing your laundry once a week... there is always something to do. Network reconfigurations are more along the lines of moving your washing machine from one side of your basement to the other... not gonna happen that often, if ever.. .and only if you are buying some big new expensive item.. like a new washing machine.. AND you are doing new plumbing to put it somewhere else, rather than just replacing it inline.

That's consistent with my limited experience in these kinds of things. If something like that happened on my network, it would be cause for a complete shutdown and re-configuration of all our firewalls. Not a peep (that I've heard) from c-span on this.

Lights Out at mention of Russia

The confirmation hearing for Donald Trump’s CIA nominee got off to eerie start Thursday when the lights suddenly went out just as a senator was mentioning Russian interference in the presidential election.

About 10 minutes into the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing for GOP Rep. Mike Pompeo the room went dark during Sen. Mark Warner’s opening statement.

A few people were weirded-out:

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) tweeted: “Lights suspiciously went off in hearing room for new CIA director, Mike Pompe[o]. Hmmm… ”

Now it is said that a power company was "working in the area, but 10 hours after the event, so explanation whatsoever had been offered. Then, just hours later, the event described in the OP took place. I'm not too big on conspiracy theories*, but for those who are, there seems to be a mother lode here.

* I object to the term "conspiracy theory" as most of them are, at best, conspiracy hypotheses and mostly non-falsifiable.

And yes, after being surprised to learn that RT is a Russian media source, I was ready to pull out my colander

Я, например, приветствую наших новых русских повелителей
