Deadpool trailer released!

Glad to see they put out the full trailer, I thought they might cut it down given the R ratedness. The trailer trailer was awesome as well.

Colossus? How'd they get him?

It's Fox, they have the rights to X-Men, so they can use Colossus. Looks like Marvel has more involvement than with most Fox releases, though.

There is going to be an inevitable Stan Lee cameo in this movie.

If Deadpool doesn't recognize Stan Lee and call him by name, I am going to be very disappointed.

how so?

Marvel Entertainment has been involved in the production from the beginning. They are ignoring Fox's X-Men Origins version of Deadpool, and the Trailer Trailer even pokes fun at it. It seems like it is going to honor the original runs of Deadpool in the comics, hell, they even have Weasel and Blind Al in the movie, and they have not appeared in the comics since the '90s.

I can't google the first (?) Deadpool trailer anymore, the one with the extended fight inside the SUV. All I can find is the new trailer and what looks like fan-made mashups.

That wasn't a trailer. That was "leaked" test footage that the filmmakers used to convince the studio to go ahead with the project. It was "leaked" to the public to generate buzz in order to help convince the studio that an R-rated version of the movie would make money.

So it's no longer available?

FOX has been aggressively taking it down anywhere they can find it.

It looks like it's trying too hard to be edgy.

The appeal of Deadpool, when done right, is that it is very dark and edgy, but done with a huge helping of humor. A guy who is going to die from cancer is given the chance to live by being given Wolverine's super human healing factor, which horribly scars him for life while making him virtually immortal. The program he is put through to apply this cure is run by horribly sadistic people who literally drive him insane. Deadpool in turn tortures a blind woman (Blind Al) and keeps her as a prisoner in his home for years, and for no apparent reason other than his own insanity (not sure if this will make the film, but the inclusion of Blind Al seems to indicate that it will). He claims to want to be a good guy at times, but even at those times he fucks everything up, so he is viewed as a villain even though he desperately wants to be a hero.

A Deadpool movie that is not edgy really is not Deadpool. At least not the Deadpool that most Deadpool fans want to see. I guess you could do one of more recent variants like Zenpool from the Axis comic run, but even though that had some decent moments, it just didn't feel like Deadpool.

um, as far as i know... no they haven't.
are you specifically aware of there being some behind-the-scenes studio cooperation that i am somehow not aware of? or are you doing that thing most people do where you don't understand that Marvel (the comics company and the movie production studio) has absolutely NOTHING to do with any of the FOX produced x-men universe movies?

No, I'm doing that thing where I have been following developments with the film since forever, as I am a big Deadpool fan. Marvel Entertainment (not Marvel studios, but still Marvel) was originally involved in the production. Now, this was admittedly before the production moved from Artisan to New Line, and then from Newline to Fox, but Marvel seems to have learned their lesson with the X-Men and Fantastic Four, and not given away everything with this deal. Further, in 2009 Fox announced that Lauren Donner would be co-producing the Movie with Marvel Studios, and Donner met with Deadpool writer Rob Liefeld to discuss the direction of the film in September 2009. Donner is still one of the co-producers of the film. There was a flap late last year where Marvel Studios adamantly denied having anything to do with the movie, but I did not say "Marvel Studios" in my original post, even though it seems they may have been involved at one point. I very deliberately said "Marvel Entertainment".

The rest of my previous post stands as well. We will be seeing the original Deadpool sidekicks, Weasel and Blind Al, as well as one of his early girlfriends Vanessa/Copy Cat, and X-Force compadre Colossus. Everything I have seen indicates it will be faithful to the comics, and not the mess that Fox has made with many of the other Marvel films over which they had total contractual control.
