Since the vast majority of humans are irrational and complete morons, I think it is imperative we build machines smarter than humans. My toaster is smarter than most of the fuckwits I work with.
It is actually not clear at all why you think it is "imperative".
A bit of hyperbole on my part but when you deal with people day in and day out you start to realize that most people are thickos. A lot of them sincerely believe in a deity. So replace them with AI robots or something so I don't need to explain to them for the 100th time that if their computer isn't turning on to check that the power is plugged in.
How having machines more intelligent than any human being and that fuckwit morons will be able to use for their own ends could possibly be good news?

As I said earlier, my toaster is more intelligent than the fuckwits I work with so we are well on our way. It's all good news as far as I can see. What's the downside exactly ?
