---- "Just the facts, ma'am, just the facts."
It's obvious why nothing is going to change.

Probably there is no fix, except new technologies from science, such as carbon-capture, or discovering some new clean energy source, or somehow making nuclear power safe. Obviously we humans generally are too petty to be able to overcome our crybaby instincts and make the necessary sacrifices. Including the environmentalists, who are only able to give more speeches bashing the capitalist pigs and pandering to the labor unions and promising "good-paying GREEN jobs" to the crybabies.

The Earths climate probably has not been suitable for supporting 8 - 10 billion consumers in the past, ice age, etc, and climatic conditions probably won't be suitable for that level of consumption at some time in the future because of natural climate change...add pumping massive quantities of CO2 and other pollutants to the equation and we may well be in trouble in the not too distant future.

Nuclear power is already the safest way of making electricity ever attempted at commercial scale. I am not sure how it's possible to "make it safe" anymore than it already is, and I am damn sure that insofar as safety is a concern, literally every other way if making electricity needs to get as safe as nuclear power is, before it is sane to call for nuclear power to be made safer. Only onshore wind power is even close to being as safe as nuclear power.

If you want safe, clean, ultra low-carbon, reliable and affordable electric power, just build more nuclear power plants. That's it. That's all that needs to happen. No new science nor engineering needs to arise. You could build exact duplicates of the plants that were built in the 1960s, and they would be perfectly capable of meeting the criteria of being both safe and clean, by comparison to any other electricity generation technology. But of course more recent designs are even better.

Well, it's not suitable for 8-10 billion now. Look at the Europe/US in google maps, pretty much everything that can be used for agriculture is used of agriculture.

Seriously though, a carbon tax would be a good way to incentivize transition.
Also, streamline nuclear regulation. One of the reasons nuclear is relatively expensive is byzantine regulation.

The engineering is the same everywhere. The only difference between the US with its high costs, and South Korea or China with their low costs, is the political climate.

Basically in the 1970s a bunch of influential Americans became very worried that overpopulation would doom humanity. They felt that cheap nuclear power would fuel an economic, and consequently a population, growth spurt - particularly in the developing world - and they used every possible propaganda tool to denigrate nuclear power in any way they could.

Overpopulation turned out to be an already solved problem; And restricted economic growth (particularly in the developing world) turned out to have exactly the opposite effect on population growth to that which these numpties assumed anyway.

So nuclear power in the USA is hugely expensive because a bunch of influential americans wrongly believed that population growth was an imminent disaster, and equally wrongly believed that preventing poor nations from getting rich would help mitigate this (nonexistent) disaster.

Nuclear power is expensive in America for basically the same reason that Donald Trump became President - The USA is full of ignorant morons who are absolutely certain of things that just are not true.

Nuclear power is dangerous in EXACTLY the same way that Joe Biden stole the 2020 election through widespread fraud - that is, it's not, but enough people believe it is to fuck up everything for everyone.

The “climate crisis”, a rapture like cult.

No doubt you will be volunteering to help with the inevitable fires in California this summer, considering climate change is bullshit.

Wildfires in California are a natural and necessary phenomenon. Almost all wildfires in California are down to human interactions in addition to dumb conservation policies.

A rapture like cult.

"Climate change doesn't exist because fire has always existed." What an intelligent and well reasoned argument. I didn't realise climate change brings about unnecessary and unnatural phenomenon like...unicorns I suppose? Sounds pretty crazy when you put it like that. You so smrat.

One word. Ozone layer.

Shoot! That's two words. Let me try that again.

Two words. The Ozone Layer.

Damn it!

How much are the fires in California due to climate change? California has an issue of property being too expensive, which has led to development in areas that weren't developed in, primarily because of these fire issues. Climate change is definitely felt more in the Arctic where small temp changes have a notable impact. Hurricane strengths have definitely gone up and recently intensification has become rapid.

You are the exact same as the rest of the religious fundamentalists and flat earthers. Not worth serious discussion.

Cherry pick data and point to research that is not peer reviewed and easily discredited.

Go on let's hear some of it...

The issue is they are becoming more severe than usual. This year is shaping up to be a very bad year due to how dry the vegetation already is.

Unfortunately, CFC emissions are pretty close to what they were before. Factories in China are cheating and making things they shouldn't. (And, no, I don't think that's what Beijing wants. It's just their system is sufficiently corrupt that Beijing has a very hard time stopping it.)

There's a fire going on right now here in Iosco county, Michigan.
