A prominent evangelical Christian leader has launched an effort to recruit 1,000 pastors willing to run for political office, hoping to inject religious issues and candidates into the 2016 election. David Lane, the founder of the American Renewal Project, said he hopes he can persuade pastors to run for offices as varied as school board and city council to the state legislature and Congress. He’s scheduled an organizing meeting in January in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. “Government is not going to save America. Wall Street is not going to save America. The Republican party is not going to save America. If America is going to be saved it will be done by Christian men and women restoring a Judeo-Christian culture to the country,” Mr. Lane said in an interview with The Washington Times.

That's good. Your country came up with some great ideas the last time it was heavily oppressed and maybe getting these kinds of people into power will give you an excuse to get your obese asses off the couch, turn off the TVs and actually try to participate to make the place worthwhile again as opposed to continuing to be the usless piece of irrelevant crap that it is now.

And yet our Founding Fathers did not want these types of men in power.

What exactly does Mr. Lane think he wants to 'save'?

White, male Christians. Is there some other definition of "America" that you're using?

I think by "these types of men" I think he means "people who wish to establish a theocracy."

Back to the OP, how unsurprising to find a Christian who feels that the problem with America is that there are not enough WASPs in positions of power.

The evangelicals have always done this. The good news: demographics. Evangelicals are losing influence and numbers.

This thread has nothing to do with race of gender. In fact, many of the batshittiest Christian politicians are female and/or black.

The second one is even a pastor.

It is actually a smart tactic to go after lower level offices like the school board. Especially since Democrats tend to only focus on the more glamorous presidential campaign.
