Correct. Covid dosn't seem to have the hallmarks of a lab engineered virus. I'm not an expert. And it's not 100%. We'll never know for sure. But agree with you that this is another example of the fact that conservatives don't understand science.

There were many Covid related crimes committed during Trump's first term as POTUS, and they were all committed by Trump and his cronies. They resulted in the deaths of one million Americans, magnitudes more than the deaths that would have occurred if someone else was POTUS in that period. Trump is directly responsible for most of those deaths through his incompetence, stupidity, and sheer bloody-minded ineptitude.

Trump not only ridiculed Biden's masks, he got his followers to ridicule them. He spread complete quackery about medicines that had no demonstrable effect with covid. He went on the debate stage with Biden, knowing he had tested positive for covid. Gain-of-function research does not necessarily involve heavy gene editing.

A majority of scientists believe that the virus came from a wet market and that it is natural. Lab generated (and then leaked) viruses are generally easier to identify and look lab generated. For example, most are related and easily traced (again I'm not a scientist so forgive my bad lingo). For example, if Covid was made in a lab, we'd expect to covid version 1; covid version 2, covid version 3 and etc. We don't see that. Covid is completely unique.
But I'm open to better evidence. But I tire of hearing of fantastic with no evidence. Where are the new peer reviewed papers that state that it came from a lab? Below is a good summary of why the CIA today believes that it is lab released:

Sure. I'm not disagreeing. I'm not the one making the positive claim. Based on everything that I've seen and read, it seems more likely that it was naturally created, not leaked from a lab. We'll probably never know for sure. But it is Trump that is making the positive claim: it was leaked from a lab in Wuhan. Okay fine, where is the evidence for this?
