My #1 is Angel Olsen https://www.facebook.com/angelolsenmusic

Algel Olsen started making videos on Youtube, gained a fan base and launched a slowly building career. Her coming album will determine if she found her voice in time to be a star. The progression of her career can be seen on Youtube. Her writings and physical appearance are interesting to watch change over the years. She has some cute quirks, like staring into nowhereness and laughing with something that doesn't appear to be there. She just gets nervous when she plays.

She looks bad with bangs and her relationships with guitars are strained, but she sings from a beautiful place that is said to transport listeners into the past. I don't like the direction she is going now, because of synthesizers and the downplaying of her voice's unique abilities, yet I haven't heard the new album in it's entirety. I'm hoping the recent promo is somewhat of a joke.

She has a magnificent voice. Big voice, and emotional.

All my favorite musicians started out by selling their souls to the devil, so I don't have a response for the question.

Ha yeah same here really. Music that obviously comes from the devil tends to sound better to me. Bands nowadays don't have that level of commitment.
I don't know of many DIY internet musicians who are mega stars besides um Soldier Boy and some dumbass flashy pop singers. Remember Soldier Boy and the song about Superman that made no damn sense at all. He sounded like he was being forced to sing during a water boarding. I never understood how that song made him so much money.

I don't know anything about Soldier Boy, but didn't Justin Bieber start out on youtube?

Yes I guess I just make a habit blocking him out of my mind. He is a pretty talented kid actually and it's a shame he's been turned into a billboard for everything bad a kid can be. Seemed like over night he was covered in tattoos, staging fake fights and abusing models. Drugs too. But to be fair, he was a street kid breakdancing for change or whatever. He would have ended up covered in ink, fighting and abusing regular looking chicks, hadn't he become such a star.

The band Kaiser https://www.facebook.com/kaiserfuzz/ is an interesting timeline to check out sometime. Not to be confused with the German band called Kaiser, which takes away from Hellsinki Kaiser's exposure in searches and suggestions. The German Kaiser sounds like the unnerving minimalist techno in 90's movies, when a lone cop is entering the lair of a serial killer. Just really bad. Hellsinki's Kaiser is unique (for stoner metal) but they're inconsistent with releasing material and they a have weak presence online. They really need to up their game on the internet. Facebook isn't even a good medium for a band like that. There are so many things they should be doing right now. I sense they may be lazy ass stoners.

Chad Fontaine https://www.facebook.com/CHAD-Fontaine-641941682606216/ was a homeless heroin addict until social media. The novelty in his act is shown best in a folk punk documentary called -Annoying. He overdosed on February 9th, 2016. He was interesting.

While in the loose genre of folk punk - A real folk punk musician is Jesse Stewart https://www.facebook.com/jessedeepincider/. He is in the same bruised vein as Fontaine, but this guy... he puts everything into it. He plays every song like it is his last. The simplicity in his act inspires thousands to make their own music. He proves that all it takes is some passion, a mandolin and a camera phone. His spirit was recognized by 2.2 million in this video, where he did a cover song and started improvising the lyrics.
