The ceasefire was to take effect on sunday, so technically it's not a breach, but it doesn't really bode well. The separatists are still shelling Debaltseve as well, so both sides are pretty much continuing as they were.

Why am I not surprised that Sputnik News fails to even mention the separatist/Russian shelling?

Kiev is on the defensive, losing, and has been begging for a ceasefire for sometime.

But hey, the Russian proxies play the victim card pretending that the Ukrainians are suicidal.

Fighting was intense around Debaltseve, a railway junction linking the two main rebel areas, where separatists used rockets and artillery to attack government forces holding the town.

"Rebels are repeatedly storming the strongholds and base camp of Ukrainian forces," in and around Debaltseve as well as firing artillery, mortars and rockets, Lysenko said, stressing that government troops had held their positions.

Hey, I'll beat Tupoc and Barbos to the punch: "The Ukrainians are also neo-Nazis controlled by the CIA"!!

You can call them neo nazi's Urkainian supremacists or ultra nationalists but they are an extreme group.
Ukraine ultranationalist leader rejects Minsk peace deal, vows 'to continue war'

"The Ukrainians are also neo-Nazis controlled by the CIA"!!

And isn't it amazing how all of this has happened without any influence whatsoever from Russia? Not a single soldier, tank, or weapons system has crossed the border between Russia and Western Russia Eastern Ukraine, all while great glorious leader Putin has been preaching peace!

Astonishing, really.

Well it didn't take long for reports of this to emerge.

Ten people, including small children, were killed and scores injured in Ukraine’s war-ravaged Donbas region early Friday as Ukrainian artillery resumed its shelling of areas in and around Donetsk and Luhansk.

Talk about deceptive reporting!!

The cease-fire hasn't taken effect, it's impossible to break.

Furthermore, "resumed" implies that they stopped because of the agreement.

I suggest you read news, not propaganda.

I am also really astonished about this. Ukraine is in chaos, thats a fact, and Putin is openly supporting this chaos by annexing Crimea, and sending military support to seperatists. But somehow its ok for him to do it because we can imagine a conspiracy theory involving the world bank, the CIA and neonazis being responsible for the chaos in the first place - that makes it just fine to annex whatever Putin can get his hands on...

that makes it just fine to annex whatever Putin can get his hands on...
Crimea does not want to be part of Ukraine. Do you want to force them to be part of Ukraine?

What a load of bull. The crimean vote was held when it was occupied by pro russian forces, and russian military. Saying that they didn't want to be part of Ukraine is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. Even if they didn't want to be part of Ukraine, russias involvement in Crimea is despicable. Moving you military in, actively arming seperatits, hosting elections on foreign ground and later annexing the land based on the election result is simply indefensible.

Then holding elections in occupied (by US) Iraq/Afganistan is a load of bull squared.

Yes. Borders cannot be changed this way. The only lesson from the incident is that no country should tolerate a Russian ethnic minority, lest comrade Putin comes to the rescue.

So you agree the election in Crimea is a load of bull.

Did not see that coming.

Even more astonishing is how for a over a year of intense fighting they manage to come up with plentiful ammunition, shells, rockets, and fuel for their armored forces and artillery regiments. Who knew that particular area of Ukraine had the all the oil wells, refineries, factories, dies, and the various raw material mines necessary to field a modern army through intense combat?

Rumor has it the ordinance it is a perfect replica of Russian made stuff. Wow.

That all depends on whether you think the invasion was justifiable in the first case. If not, then of course its not justifiable to host elections either. On the other hand, if you think was justifiable to invade and remove the government back in Iraq/Afghanistan, then you have only a couple of choices: install dictator or host elections for a new government.

Do you think the russian occupation was justifiable?

Yes. Borders cannot be changed this way. The only lesson from the incident is that no country should tolerate a Russian ethnic minority, lest comrade Putin comes to the rescue.

And yet the border is changed...yet again. And the people are happy (for now anyway)

And who's stuff does the Kiev forces replicate? It is a pity that warmongers are so zealous. Peace advocates just get tired. I think it is a shame that anybody else is getting killed the day before the ceasefire is to go into effect. It is long past the time we have recognized that these people are fighting a surrogate war for other parties with other interests than the Ukraine.

Or...get the fuck out....choice #3!

During the Vietnam war, Vietnamese pot was being smoked by Americans. During the U.S. occupation of Afghanistan, Afghanistan became the world's leading source of heroin. Today, Americans smoke mostly American pot.

Military involvement in a country always becomes a tool for all sorts of black market schemes. In Vietnam, the pot exportation rode piggyback in the logistical pipeline. Yes, there are crooks in the U.S. military...and no, Virginia, there is no benevolent "Uncle Sam."
