Stephen Bannon, President Trump’s former top campaign aide, was charged on Thursday in New York with fraud for his role in a scheme related to “We Build the Wall,” an online fundraising effort that collected more than $25 million, officials said.

Mr. Bannon and three other defendants “defrauded hundreds of thousands of donors, capitalizing on their interest in funding a border wall to raise millions of dollars, under the false pretense that all of that money would be spent on construction,” said the acting United States attorney in Manhattan, Audrey Strauss.

It's about time some of these crooks were indicted. Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up!

It's about time some of these crooks were indicted. Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up!

How long before Trump pardons him? Or did Bannon ever say anything that might be construed as slightly negative about Trump? There have been so many through the revolving
door that I've lost track...

ETA: Nevermind. They had a falling out in 2018. That feels like a lifetime ago.

Oh, I don't believe that. I'm not even worried about the pardon. I'm worried about a federal level prosecution, given Barr's willingness to bend his office to serve Trump.
 
To be absolutely superficial about it -- but what the hell -- hasn't this guy always had the 'perp walk' look? Bad posture, sallow, sneaky-looking eyes, smirk. Back in his Oval Office days he had a two-day beard and usually wore a leather jacket that looked lived in. Just the kind of guy that, if you see him at a playground, you keep an eye on him & try to remember his license number.
 
I laughed out loud! :hysterical: And four other goons got caught. Finally some humor, I've been waiting since they put Rudy back in his corner.
 
An interesting little footnote to this: They used agents from the US Postal Service to make the arrest.

Normally, the FBI would be called to do this. I suspect (yet to see any kind of confirmation, and we likely won't know for years) because that way Barr couldn't interfere or tip them off.

Kris Kobach is the general counsel of the Build the Wall PAC that Steve Bannon was just arrested for being involved in as chairman. The advisory board includes Erik Prince, former CO congressman Tom Tancredo, Sheriff Dave Clarke and former pitcher Curt Schilling.
