The acts of conservative terrorism from the Oklahoma City bombing to the recent mass murder in a synagogue are not accidents. A lot of people use lies to promote hate to make people more likely to become terrorists. This is nothing new, and it didn't start with Trump. It's been going on for a long time before Trump ever got involved in politics.

Typical progresso-authoritarian "logic". If one is opposed to mass migrant caravans being let into the country, one must approve of bombing federal buildings
This is a low-point even for you.

As to mass migrants carrying disease, there are definitely diseases endemic in Honduras. Note that these caravans are made up of the poorest, least educated strata of societies they emerge from, and that makes it more likely they carry diseases.

Even New York Times has admitted that some mass migrants in the caravan have been getting sick.

I’ve mentioned before that I have some very conservative relatives. One of my cousins recently posted something about these mobs of immigrants endangering our children by bringing in measles, mumps, rubella, smallpox and diphtheria.

With the exception of smallpox, these are all diseases we routinely vaccinate children against in this country. Smallpox, of course, was officially declared irradiated worldwide in 1980 with only laboratory strains being known to exist today.

But whatever. The idea is that these potential immigrants and refugees are just a bunch of dirty, diseased (brown) foreigners.

The truth is that in the US, there is a much greater risk of terrorism from natural born US citizens than from outsiders. As recent events so adequately —and tragically demonstrate.

If we are going to lock people up based on the statistical likelihood that they will engage in mass shootings or other acts of terrorism, we should be locking up men. White men, to be exact.

Before anyone’s head explodes, this would be an obvious over reaction.

Let me try and spell this out for you:

Step 1: FOX News, and other right wing sources tell lies to stoke the fires of hate against immigrants.
Step 2: Conservatives listen to FOX News and other conservative sources and hate immigrants even more.
Step 3: Violence against immigrants by conservatives become more likely because of the heated rhetoric by FOX News and other conservative sources.

We have the same link between the heated rhetoric of radical imams and Muslim terrorists. I get that you want to say that the imams should not be held to account for their heated rhetoric because they do not specifically order specific acts of terrorism, but despite your objections, they do fuel an environment of hate that makes acts of violence more likely to happen.

The same thing goes with the rhetoric spewed by FOX News and other right wing sources.

You can whine all you want that I'm using "bad logic" to draw a link between heated rhetoric from FOX News and radical imams and acts of violence, but I don't see how it's much of a logical stretch at all.

Ooh, now you have to find a way to insist that the logical argument fails when applied to FOX News, but is valid when applied to radical imams. I wonder how you'll pull that off? I'm sure it will be entertaining.

This looks like pointless scaremongering. But to be fair, south America does have more diseases than north America, as shown on every map or graph I have seen. But the threat is so small it doesn't seem getting worked up over.

I read this morning that Guatemala has a higher rate of immunizing their children then the US does, so I don't think we need to worry about these poor folks bringing in diseases.

And, the idiot Trump first claims that these people are big, strong, scary men, then in the next sentence or two, he claims they have terrible diseases. So, which is it? Are they scary strong men or are they sickly weak people who are bringing in diseases? Both are outright lies.

If people are getting sick on the journey, it's probably secondary to dehydration, lack of nutritional options and lack of hygienic places to bathe and defecate and urinate. I imagine that many homeless Americans have these very same problems.

Here, Derec, let me help you some more.

article said:
(Reuters) - Three Kansas militia members who were convicted of plotting to bomb the mosque and homes of Somali immigrants should be granted leniency in their sentencing because they were inspired by President Donald Trump’s rhetoric encouraging violence, lawyers for the men said in court documents.

Go ahead and keep telling us that there's no connection between the rhetoric and acts of terrorism. Go ahead and use the same excuses we hear from radical Muslims when radical Muslims insist that the rhetoric of radical imams has no connection to acts of terrorism by radical Muslims. I'm sure that everyone will suddenly decide that those same arguments are good instead of bad when you use it to defend treason-loving racists instead of radical Muslim because the treason-loving terrorists are white and therefore need to be held to a different standard, right?

Even your fellow rightists can plainly see the connection between the rhetoric and acts of violence. The above 3 convicted terrorists in the article used that very link to ask a court for leniency in sentencing.

Of course, when I said "treason-loving" I meant "Those who use lies and bad arguments to make excuses for acts of treason, but may in fact hate treason (when it's done by someone else)." I hope I don't make any conservatives or libertarians explode with rage by being so careless with my wording.
