Google doodle celebrates a Maoist, anti-American, non-black black separatist

I don't think you and others defending this doodle would view it as trivial if Google was honoring somebody on the right-wing.
When you're a global company on the bleeding edge of technological progress, the last group you want to be linked to is a bunch of backward idiots like the right wing of politics, the enemy of progress.

Nonsense, the right-wing has done lots in this country to forward progress! Just take a look at their jobs bill, their Obamacare alternative, their transportation funding bill, their House Committee on Science, Space and Technology!

This pass left-wing radicals get in our society is certainly not a trivial matter.

So you actually think he, personally, looked it up?
Of course I personally looked it up. I saw the doodle, didn't know who she was, went to the wiki page, saw that she was all about Marxism, hating America and loving terrorists like Che Guevara and Osama bin Laden.

"I thank Islam for bin Laden"
Yuri Kochiyama

Is it really all or nothing? Are there only 2 choices?
1) She's a wonderful civil rights leader that should be celebrated
2) She's a commie terrorists and we should be ashamed to claim her as an American

I realize it's the current American way of discussing politics, but is there really no nuance to be had in this type of conversation?

But it's ok to be linked to people who praised Osama bin fucking Laden?

Or she was right on a lot of things, wrong on a few things.

Shouldn't you be out banning Uber, refusing vaccinations, or preventing genetically modified foods?

What was she right on? I can think of only one thing - compensation for Japanese internment victims. Everything else, from her work with black separatists/supremacists like Malcolm the 10th to her praise for scum like Che Guevara, Mumia Abu Jamal or Osama bin Laden were not only wrong but stemmed from a deep and profound hatred for the United States.

Osama's on-trend right now.

Look, if it bothers you that much, you should just boycott Google. Install this in Firefox and add every Google website and affiliate website to your blacklist: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/blocksite/

I'm takin' the night off.

Shouldn't you be off sabotaging UHC, cleantech and national infrastructure?

Honors:

In 2005, Kochiyama was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize through the “1,000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005” project.

In 2010, she received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from California State University, East Bay.

On June 6, 2014, the White House honored Kochiyama on its website for dedicating "her life to the pursuit of social justice, not only for the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, but all communities of color."

In 2014, the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center curated "Folk Hero: Remembering Yuri Kochiyama Through Grassroots Art", a digital exhibition it characterized as a "tribute".

On May 19, 2016, Google Doodle in the U.S. honored the 95th anniversary of Yuri Kochiyama's birthday.

There's more history here than just she aligned herself with some controversial persons/ideas in her life. Which of the above is the most offensive to the sort of sensibility found in the OP?

Well, if people go out and produce cheap clean energy by fracking while you sleep it's on you.

Yeah, clean. Clean like Bob who is so pure he doesn't take showers or baths or go out in the rain. Its that dirt at the base of rain I guess.

Back to the story. Oh wait. That is the story. Fracked gas is not as dirty as sludgy pumped oil from Venezuela and not much else. Oil industry has taken over the clean coal initiative.

See, this is the kind of silly statement that would make an innovative, environmentally and socially-conscious tech company want to distance itself from the right wing, lest they tarnish their brand.

"Wait, he said that fracking produces clean cheap energy?"
<WTF faces all around the office>

So, this would tarnish Google's brand.

But this will not.

Interesting. You'd think a high-tech energy technology would be right up Google's lane. International Islamic terrorism, not so much.

OK, you prove my point. Fracking has done more to reduce CO2 and other emissions in the US than anything or anyone. Even Al Gore.

If they honored bigger criminals than bin Laden, like Bush and Obama, I wouldn't care.

Ah, so by 'clean' you meant 'clean compared to the dirtiest energy sources in use'.
