ISIS has taken a chance at trying to deliver a major death blow to the Republican Party. I say ISIS, because I can only imagine ISIS would be crafty enough to try and allow an open carry policy at a Political convention.

article said:
A petition posted to Change.org is asking for open carry of guns to be permitted at the Republican National Convention in July.

Held in Cleveland, this year's convention promises to be particularly tense as establishment Republicans ponder ways to block front-runner Donald Trump from getting the party's nomination.

The petition, which has nearly 4,000 supporters, was posted three days ago by author "N A," whose user profile appears to have been deleted from the site.
All I can say is that guns don't kill people. And just to make certain no protestors get inside the Convention, they should lock the doors.

I joked about this earlier, and my dreams are coming true!

Heck, even if they reject the petition (which they'd be insane not to do) and the petitioners show up with their guns anyway, demanding admission, what will happen?

They allow guns at the NRA convention, so why not!
The Secret Service, that's why not... sadly.

You mean the gun-grabber government restricting our FIRST FREEDOM!

A large group of pissed off, armed Republicans locked in a hall while having a contentious fight for the Party? So many problems cold be solved in one fell swoop.

So many good guys with guns in one place. What could possibly go wrong?

There would be Trump's good guys with guns and there would be everyone else's good guys with guns, and if a fight breaks out and a good guy with a gun pulls out his do-good gun, then all the other good guys with their do-good guns can join in the fun. Then the security guards and police can bring their do-good guns and it'll be a big, bloody mess--a carnage of goodness.

No one would ever bring up the '68 Democratic Convention again.

I think this is a fantastic idea!

Yeah, lets see the Trump and Cruz supporters stand their ground against each other.

The nation would be better off.

What you've just said is I think a good point.

Someone on another board said he didn't see any problem because the NRA allows carry at their conventions. I don't think its an apt comparison. The NRA conventions are attended by almost completely all gun lovers. They're all of the same mind.

The RNC convention, however, is going to be attended by at least two if not more groups of people that in some cases literally hate each other.

While it's a fun thought to entertain, it could actually turn out quite nastily.

I really don't see the RNC allowing it, which would again give their base hissy-fits.

Here is a question. How many actual Trump supporters would be at the Convention? An elected delegate that is legally tied to support Trump does not mean that person is a rabid Trump supporter. In many cases, it'd just be a Republican with certain connections. Obviously Trump would be upset, but whole else would be upset inside the place (or outside)?

Don't the candidates pick their own delegates specifically to get their rabid supporters in the room?

But they love guns. And God and their country and the Constitution (or at least the parts they can remember and agree with). But mostly they love guns. Sounds better agreement than a lot of happy marriages.

Guns or no guns: it's a Republican National Convention. It's going to turn out quite nasty. That's just a given.

Well, no. Of course not. Because there will be television cameras and someone important might be caught in the crossfire. Or wetting his pants.

I doubt many of the delegates to the National Convention would carry heat. But it would a monumental mistake to permit guns at the Convention. If some sort of firefight or shooting did break out, not only would that tragedy be on the hands of the Republican party, it would give the Democrats ammo to fire away at any Republican candidate - which would harm any Republican in a contested seat.
