Hands UP, When Shot
January 31, 2015

*
"When the shot happened, his hands were up,” Officer Rodney Barnes, who had been talking to Geer at the moment of the shooting, told investigators that evening. “I’m not here to throw [Torres] under the bus or anything like that, but I didn’t see what he saw.”

“It’s not good,” Officer David Parker, who was crouching 15 feet behind Torres, told investigators. “He killed that guy and he didn’t have to.”

The police documents paint a vivid picture of a tense 44-minute showdown between Geer, 46, and the officers who had come to resolve a domestic dispute between Geer and his live-in partner of 24 years, Maura Harrington. The couple, who had two daughters together, had just had an argument over the phone, and Geer had begun throwing some of Harrington’s belongings onto their front yard. Harrington came home and called 911."

He must be a real fucknut for officers to side against him.

I like this user comment:
the Left has wrapped themselves around their own axle again, the shooter is Hispanic, the dead man is an evil white imperialist colonialist, they're truly torn on this one. those darn witnesses! but wait, are they all evil white officers?

On another note, I hope he charge him with a crime he will actually be convicted for, not too severe a crime the jury will balk at.

To be quite honest....this makes about as much sense as some nonsensical Snookie Palin quote.....

There is no contradiction here. The commenter is micro-focusing to miss the main picture. But if he opens his eyes and heart, he will see something more. There are several things going on.

One is the militarization of the police and their newfound sense that they are at war and must kill enemies before they are killed themselves instead of "keeping the peace" and being the ones to de-escalate situations.

Another is that often this soldier in warzone mentality is pointed more rapidly and more fiercely at people of color than caucasians.

Yet another is the blue code of silence where the cops will not fix themselves. A good cop is a cop who will blow the whistle on a bad cop. There seems to be a dearth of good cops.

Add those up and you will get what we have here today. People killed with their hands up; sometimes white, mostly black. Cops killing way too readily; sometimes black or hispanic, mostly white. And cops getting away with it; all blue.
